¹⁸ With prayer and supplication pray at all times in the Spirit. Watch with all perseverance and supplication for all the holy ones.

²⁴ Then Jacob was by himself. A man was fighting with him till dawn. ²⁵ The man saw that he was not able to overcome Jacob. He gave him a blow in the hollow part of his thigh, so that his leg was damaged. ²⁶ He said to him: »Let me go now, for the dawn is near.« But Jacob said: »I will not let you go till you have given me your blessing.« ²⁷ Then he asked: »What is your name?« And he said, »Jacob.« ²⁸ The man said: »Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel (He Struggles With God), because you have struggled with God and with men and you have won.«

⁵² »May your eyes always see my plea and your people Israel's plea so that you will listen to them whenever they call on you.

⁵⁴ When Solomon finished praying this prayer for mercy to Jehovah, he stood in front of Jehovah’s altar, where he had been kneeling with his hands stretched out toward heaven.

⁵⁹ »May these words I have prayed to Jehovah be near Jehovah our God day and night. Then he will give his people Israel and me justice every day as it is needed.

⁹ Jehovah hears my supplication for mercy. Jehovah receives my prayer!

¹ He spoke an illustration to them emphasizing the need to pray and not become tired: ² »There was a judge in a city that did not fear God and had no respect for man. ³ »There was a widow in that same city. She went to him asking for legal protection from her adversary. ⁴ »At first he refused. Then he thought about it and he said to himself, I do not fear God and have little respect for man. ⁵ »However this widow bothers me. For this reason I will avenge her. ³⁶ »Be on the watch all the time. Pray for the strength to escape all these things in order to stand before the Son of man.«

⁴⁶ He said: »Why do you sleep? Arise and pray that you do not enter into temptation.«

¹⁴ They all continued united in earnest prayer. The women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers were also there.

² He was a devout man who respected God with his entire household. He gave many gifts of mercy to the people and prayed to God always.

⁴ »We will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word.«

⁵ Peter was kept in prison. Prayer was made without ceasing by the congregation to God for him.

¹⁵ For you have not received a spirit of bondage again causing fear, but you have received a spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Father, Father! (Chaldee: Abba, meaning father).

²⁶ Likewise the Spirit also helps our weaknesses. We do not know what we should pray for, as we should. The Spirit [of God] makes intercession with groaning that cannot be spoken. ²⁷ So he who searches the hearts knows what is the inclination (purpose) (mind-set) of the Spirit [of God], because the Spirit makes intercession for the holy ones according to the will of God.

¹² Rejoice in hope! Be patient in tribulation. Continue in prayer.

⁶ Because you are sons, God sent the spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

¹⁶ I continually give thanks for you in my prayers.

²² In Christ you are assembled together as a place for God’s Spirit to dwell.

⁸ To me, the very least of all the holy ones, was given grace (loving divine influence) to preach to the people of the nations the untraceable riches of Christ.

¹⁸ May you be able to comprehend with all the holy ones the breadth and length and height and depth.

⁶ Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

⁴ We have heard about your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love you have for all the holy ones.

¹⁹ Pray on my behalf, that ability to speak may be given to me, to make known with boldness the secret of the good news.

⁴ I always offer prayer filled with joy for you,

² Continue steadfastly in prayer, being vigilant with thanksgiving.

¹⁷ Pray without ceasing.

³ I thank God, whom I serve with a clear conscience as my forefathers did, that without ceasing, I remember you in my prayers, day and night.

¹ I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men,

⁵ I hear about your love, and about the faith you have toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all the holy ones.

⁷ In the days of his life on earth, when he [Christ] offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears to the one who was able to save him out of death, and was heard because of his godly reverence. (Galatians 1:1) (Psalm 69:13)

⁷ The end of all things is near. Be of sound mind and judgment. Also be sober for the purpose of prayer.

²⁰ You, beloved, build yourself up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit.
