⁹ God has saved us and called us with a holy calling. This is not according to our works, but according to his purpose and grace that was granted us in Christ Jesus, from all eternity.

⁷ »Jehovah set his heart on you. He chose you, even though you did not outnumber all the other people. You were the smallest of all nations. ⁸ »You were chosen because Jehovah loved you and kept the oath he swore to your fathers. So he used his mighty hand to bring you out. He freed you from slavery under Pharaoh king of Egypt.

²⁶ This is my purpose (plan) (advise) for the world, and my arm (extended power) is stretched out to punish the nations. ²⁷ Jehovah of Hosts is determined to do this. He has stretched out his arm to punish, and no one can stop him.

²¹ »She will give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus (»Jehovah (YHWH) is salvation«), because he will save his people from their sins.«

²⁵ Then Jesus prayed: »I thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth. You have hidden these things from the wise and understanding, and have revealed them to children. (Acts 2:36) ²⁶ »Yes, Father, for it was very pleasing in your sight.

⁴⁷ As they praised God, they had favor with all the people. God added to the congregation daily those being saved.

¹⁸ »Known to God are all his works from the beginning of the world.

²⁸ We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. ²⁹ Those he first recognized, he ordained in advance that they be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. ³⁰ He ordained in advance the ones he called. He declared righteous the ones he called. He also glorified those he declared righteous. ³¹ What shall we then say about these things? It is God who justifies (makes righteous). ³⁴ Who is he that condemns? It is Christ that died, yes rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. ³⁵ Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? ³⁶ It is written: »For your sake we are put to death all day long. We are considered as sheep for the slaughter.« (Psalm 44:22) ³⁷ In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. ³⁸ For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, ³⁹ Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Ephesians 6:12)

¹¹ When they had not yet been born nor performed anything good or vile, so the purpose of God regarding the choosing would continue without dependence on works but on the One who calls.

²⁴ We are the ones he has also called, not only from among the Jews, but also from among the nations.

⁵ Even so at this present time there is a remnant chosen according to God’s grace. ⁶ If it is by grace then it is no longer on the basis of works. Otherwise grace is not grace (undeserved kindness). But if it is of works then it is not by grace. Otherwise works are no longer works.

²⁵ Now to him that is of power to establish you according to my good news, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the secret, which was kept secret since the world began.

¹⁸ For the preaching of the stake is foolishness to those who perish. It is the power of God to us who are saved.

²⁰ No flesh will be justified before God by works of the law. Knowledge of sin comes from the law. ²¹ Therefore let no man boast in men. For all things are yours. ²² Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours!

³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. He has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places through Christ. ⁴ He chose us through him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blemish before him in love.

⁹ He made known to us the secret of his will, according to his good pleasure and purpose.

¹¹ We were assigned as heirs predetermined according to his purpose. He works all things according to his direction and will.

⁵ even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ. For by grace (loving-kindness) you have been saved.

⁸ By grace (Greek: charis, divine favor, loving-kindness) you have been saved through faith. It is not from you. It is the gift from God! ⁹ It is not the result of works. So no man should boast.

¹¹ This is according to the eternal purpose (determination) (design) (arrangement) that He carried out in Christ Jesus our Lord.

⁷ For God has not called us to uncleanness, but to holiness.

¹³ We always have to thank God for you, brothers. Jehovah loves you and we thank God that in the beginning he chose you to be saved through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth. ¹⁴ It was for this he called you through our good news. This is so you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹ Holy brothers, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Jesus.

¹ Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus according to the commandment of God our Savior, and Christ Jesus our hope, ² It is in hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before times eternal.

⁴ When the kindness of God our Savior, and his love toward man, appeared, ⁵ not by works done in righteousness, which we did, but according to his mercy he saved us, through the washing of regeneration (restoration) (spiritual rebirth) and renewing (renovation) of the Holy Spirit.

¹⁵ Be holy in all your conduct, just as the one who called you is holy. ¹⁶ Because it is written: »You shall be holy for I am holy.«

²⁰ Jesus was known before the foundation of the world. He was made known at the end times for your sake.

⁹ You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and a people for God’s own possession, that you may show the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

²⁰ What value is there when you sin, and are buffeted for it, you take it patiently? But if, when you do well and suffer for it, you take it patiently, this is acceptable with God. ²¹ For this you were called because Christ also suffered for you. He left you an example (a copy for imitation) (a model) that you should follow in his steps.

⁸ All the citizens of earth will worship him, all whose names have not been written in the Lamb's book of life who was slain from the foundation of the world.

⁸ »The beast that you saw was, and is not. It will ascend out of the pit and go into destruction. They who dwell on the earth will wonder, those whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they see the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
