²³ This is his commandment, that we should believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another. He gave us this commandment!

¹⁵ »Jehovah your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your fellow Israelites. Listen to him! ¹⁶ »This is according to all that you asked of Jehovah your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly. You said: Let me not hear again the voice of Jehovah my God. Do not let me see this great fire anymore, or I will die. ¹⁷ »Jehovah said to me: ‘They have spoken well. ¹⁸ »‘I will raise up a prophet from among their countrymen like you. I will put my words in his mouth. He will speak to them all that I command him. ¹⁹ »‘Whoever refuses to listen to the words that the prophet speaks in my name will answer to me.

¹² Kiss the Son, lest he be angry and you be destroyed in your way, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed (happy) are all who take refuge (put trust) in him.

³⁹ »The second like it is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’

⁷ A cloud hovered over them and a voice came out of the cloud: »This is my Son the beloved listen to him!«

²⁹ Jesus answered: »This is the work of God, that you have an active faith in the one whom he has sent.«

³⁴ »I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also love one another.

¹ »Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in me.

¹² »This is my commandment, that you love one another, even as I have loved you.

³ »This is everlasting life that they should have *deep, intimate knowledge of you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have commissioned. *(Greek: ginosko: know, perceive, be sure, understand)

³¹ They said: »Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your house.«

² Walk in love, even as Christ also loved you, and gave himself up for us. He was an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling odor.

⁹ I do not need to write you about brotherly love. For God taught you to love one another.

¹⁵ Faithful is the saying, and worthy of acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am foremost.

²² You have purified your hearts by obeying the truth. You have genuine affection for the brothers and sisters. So always love one another intensely (extremely) (deeply) from the heart.

⁸ Above all things have intense love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins.

⁸ Then again, I do write a new commandment to you. This is true in him and in you. The darkness is passing away, and the true light already shines. ⁹ He who says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in the darkness! ¹⁰ He who loves his brother lives in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling (offence) in him.

¹¹ This is the message you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another!

²¹ We have this commandment from him, that he who loves God should love his brother also.
