¹ Then Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to God, and said, "I will sing to the LORD, for he has triumphed gloriously. The horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea. ² The LORD is my strength and song. He has become my salvation. This is my God, and I will praise him; my father's God, and I will exalt him. ³ The LORD is a man of war. The LORD is his name. ⁴ He has cast Pharaoh's chariots and his army into the sea. His choice officers were drowned in the Sea at the End. ⁵ The deeps cover them. They went down into the depths like a stone. ⁶ Your right hand, LORD, is glorious in power. Your right hand, LORD, dashes the enemy in pieces. ⁷ In the greatness of your excellency, you overthrow those who rise up against you. You send forth your wrath. It consumes them as stubble. ⁸ With the blast of your nostrils, the waters were piled up. The floods stood upright as a heap. The deeps were congealed in the heart of the sea. ⁹ The enemy said, 'I will pursue. I will overtake. I will divide the spoil. My desire shall be satisfied on them. I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.' ¹⁰ You blew with your wind. The sea covered them. They sank like lead in the mighty waters. ¹¹ Who is like you, LORD, among the gods? Who is like you, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders? ¹² You stretched out your right hand. The earth swallowed them. ¹³ "You, in your loving kindness, have led the people that you have redeemed. You have guided them in your strength to your holy habitation. ¹⁴ The peoples have heard. They tremble. Pangs have taken hold on the inhabitants of Philistia. ¹⁵ Then the chiefs of Edom were dismayed. Trembling takes hold of the leaders of Moab. All the inhabitants of Canaan have melted away. ¹⁶ Terror and dread falls on them. By the greatness of your arm they are as still as a stone—until your people pass over, LORD, until the people pass over who you have purchased. ¹⁷ You shall bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of your inheritance, the place, LORD, which you have made for yourself to dwell in; the sanctuary, LORD, which your hands have established. ¹⁸ The LORD shall reign forever and ever." ¹⁹ For the horses of Pharaoh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and the LORD brought back the waters of the sea on them; but the children of Israel walked on dry land in the midst of the sea. ²⁰ Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a tambourine in her hand; and all the women went out after her with tambourines and with dances. ²¹ Miriam answered them, "Sing to the LORD, for he has triumphed gloriously. The horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea."

¹ Then Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam sang on that day, saying, ² "Because the leaders took the lead in Israel, because the people offered themselves willingly, be blessed, LORD. ³ "Hear, you kings. Give ear, you princes. I, even I, will sing to the LORD. I will sing praise to the LORD, the God of Israel. ⁴ "LORD, when you went forth out of Seir, when you marched out of the field of Edom, the earth trembled, the sky also dropped. Yes, the clouds dropped water. ⁵ The mountains quaked at the presence of the LORD, even Sinai, at the presence of the LORD, the God of Israel. ⁶ "In the days of Shamgar the son of Anath, in the days of Jael, the highways were unoccupied. The travelers walked through byways. ⁷ The rulers ceased in Israel. They ceased until I, Deborah, arose; Until I arose a mother in Israel. ⁸ They chose new gods. Then war was in the gates. Was there a shield or spear seen among forty thousand in Israel? ⁹ My heart is toward the leaders of Israel, who offered themselves willingly among the people. Bless the LORD. ¹⁰ "Speak, you who ride on white donkeys, you who sit on saddle blankets, and you who walk by the way. ¹¹ Far from the noise of archers, in the places of drawing water, there they will rehearse the righteous acts of the LORD, the righteous acts of his rule in Israel. "Then the people of the LORD went down to the gates. ¹² 'Awake, awake, Deborah. Awaken the multitudes of a nation. Awake, awake, sing a song. Be strong. Arise, Barak. And Deborah, strengthen Barak. And lead away your captives, son of Abinoam.' ¹³ "Then a remnant of the nobles came down. The people of the LORD marched down to me against the mighty. ¹⁴ From Ephraim those who uprooted Amalek came out, following you, Benjamin, among your peoples; out of Makir leaders came down, and out of Zebulun those that handle the staff of office. ¹⁵ And the princes of Issachar were with Deborah. As was Issachar, so was Barak. They rushed into the valley at his feet. By the watercourses of Reuben, there were great resolves of heart. ¹⁶ Why did you sit among the sheepfolds, to hear the piping for the flocks? At the divisions of Reuben there were great searchings of heart. ¹⁷ Gilead lived beyond the Jordan. Why did Dan remain in ships? Asher sat still at the haven of the sea, and lived by his harbors. ¹⁸ Zebulun was a people that risked their lives even to death; Naphtali also, on the high places of the field. ¹⁹ The kings came and fought, then the kings of Canaan fought at Taanach by the waters of Megiddo. They took no plunder of silver. ²⁰ From the sky the stars fought. From their courses, they fought against Sisera. ²¹ The river Kishon swept them away, that ancient river, the river Kishon. My soul, march on with strength. ²² Then the horse hoofs pounded because of the galloping, the galloping of their steeds. ²³ Curse Meroz, said the angel of the LORD. Curse bitterly its inhabitants, because they did not come to help the LORD, to help the LORD against the mighty. ²⁴ Jael shall be blessed above women, the wife of Heber the Kenite; blessed shall she be above women in the tent. ²⁵ He asked for water. She gave him milk. She brought him curds in a princely bowl. ²⁶ She put her hand to the tent peg, and her right hand to the workmen's hammer. She struck Sisera, she pierced his head; she shattered and struck through his temple. ²⁷ At her feet he collapsed, he fell, he lay. At her feet he collapsed, he fell. Where he collapsed, there he fell down, destroyed. ²⁸ Through the window she looked out. Sisera's mother cried out through the lattice, 'Why is his chariot so long in coming? Why are the hoofbeats of his chariots delayed?' ²⁹ Her wise princesses answered her; indeed, she answers herself, ³⁰ 'Have they not found, have they not divided the spoil? A womb or two for every man; to Sisera a spoil of dyed garments, A spoil of dyed garments embroidered, Of dyed garments embroidered on both sides, for the neck of the plunderer?' ³¹ So let all your enemies perish, LORD, but let those who love you be as the sun when it rises forth in its strength." And the land had rest forty years.

¹ Hannah prayed, and said: "My heart exults in the LORD. My horn is exalted in my God. My mouth is enlarged over my enemies, because I rejoice in your salvation. ² Truly, there is no one as holy as the LORD. Truly, there is no one besides you, nor is there any rock like our God. ³ "Do not keep speaking proudly. Do not let arrogance come out of your mouth, for the LORD is a God of knowledge. By him actions are weighed. ⁴ "The bows of the mighty men are broken. Those who stumbled are armed with strength. ⁵ Those who were full have hired themselves out for bread. Those who were hungry are satisfied. Even the barren has borne seven, and she who has many children languishes. ⁶ "The LORD kills, and makes alive. He brings down to Sheol, and brings up. ⁷ The LORD makes poor, and makes rich. He brings low, he also lifts up. ⁸ He raises up the poor out of the dust. He lifts up the needy from the dunghill, To make them sit with princes, and inherit the throne of glory. For the pillars of the earth are the LORD's. He has set the world on them. ⁹ He will guard the feet of his faithful ones, but the wicked will be put to silence in darkness. For no man will prevail by strength. ¹⁰ The LORD will shatter his adversaries. He will thunder against them in the sky. "The LORD will judge the farthest parts of the earth. He will give strength to his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed."

¹ David spoke to the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul: ² and he said, "The LORD is my Rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer. ³ My God, my Rock, in him I will take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my savior; from violent people he saves me. ⁴ I call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies. ⁵ For the waves of death surrounded me, and the currents of ungodliness overwhelmed me. ⁶ The cords of Sheol were around me. The snares of death caught me. ⁷ In my distress I called upon the LORD, and I cried out to my God. He heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came into his ears. ⁸ Then the earth shook and trembled. The foundations of the mountains quaked and were shaken, because he was angry. ⁹ Smoke went up out of his nostrils. Fire out of his mouth devoured. Coals were kindled by it. ¹⁰ He bowed the heavens also, and came down. Thick darkness was under his feet. ¹¹ He rode on a cherub, and flew; and he glided on the wings of the wind. ¹² He made darkness his hiding place, his canopy around him thick clouds dark with water. ¹³ From the brightness before him his thick clouds passed on, with hailstones and coals of fire. ¹⁴ The LORD thundered from heaven. The Most High uttered his voice. ¹⁵ And he sent out arrows and scattered them, and he shot lightning bolts and routed them. ¹⁶ Then the channels of the sea appeared. The foundations of the world were laid bare by the rebuke of the LORD, at the blast of the breath of his nostrils. ¹⁷ He sent from on high and he took me. He drew me out of many waters. ¹⁸ He delivered me from my strong enemy, from those who hated me, for they were too mighty for me. ¹⁹ They came on me in the day of my calamity, but the LORD was my support. ²⁰ He also brought me out into a large place. He delivered me, because he delighted in me. ²¹ The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness. He rewarded me according to the cleanness of my hands. ²² For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God. ²³ For all his ordinances were before me, and his statutes I did not put away from me. ²⁴ I was also perfect toward him. I kept myself from my iniquity. ²⁵ Therefore the LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his sight. ²⁶ With the faithful you show yourself faithful. With the innocent you show yourself innocent. ²⁷ With the pure you show yourself pure. And with the crooked you show yourself tortuous. ²⁸ You save a humble people, but the eyes of the proud you will bring low. ²⁹ For you light my lamp. The LORD my God lights up my darkness. ³⁰ For by you, I run against a troop. By my God, I leap over a wall. ³¹ As for God, his way is perfect. The word of the LORD is pure. He is a shield to all those who take refuge in him. ³² For who is God, besides the LORD? Who is a rock, besides our God, ³³ the God who girds me with strength, and makes my way blameless? ³⁴ He makes my feet like those of a deer, and sets me on my high places. ³⁵ He teaches my hands to war, so that my arms bend a bow of bronze. ³⁶ You have also given me the shield of your salvation, and your right hand holds me up, and your help has made me great. ³⁷ You have enlarged my steps under me. My feet have not slipped. ³⁸ I pursued my enemies and overtook them, and I did not turn back until they were destroyed. ³⁹ And I consumed them, and struck them through, so that they did not rise. And they fell beneath my feet. ⁴⁰ For you have equipped me with strength for the battle. You have subdued under me those who rose up against me. ⁴¹ You have also made my enemies turn their backs to me, that I might cut off those who hate me. ⁴² They cry out, but there was none to save; even to the LORD, but he did not answer them. ⁴³ Then I ground them as fine as the dust on the surface of a path. Like the mud in the streets, I trampled them. ⁴⁴ You also have delivered me from the strivings of my people. You have kept me to be the head of the nations. A people whom I have not known will serve me. ⁴⁵ As soon as they hear of me they obey me. Foreigners come cringing to me; ⁴⁶ they are not bound in chains. ⁴⁷ The LORD lives. Blessed be my rock. Exalted be God, the rock of my salvation, ⁴⁸ even the God who executes vengeance for me, and subdues peoples under me, ⁴⁹ who brings me away from my enemies. Yes, you lift me up above those who rise up against me. You protect me from the violent man. ⁵⁰ Therefore I will praise you, LORD, among the nations, and will sing praises to your name. ⁵¹ He gives great deliverance to his king, and shows loving kindness to his anointed, to David and to his descendants, until forever."

³² the God who girds me with strength, and makes my way blameless?

⁷ The LORD is my strength and my shield. My heart has trusted in him, and I am helped. Therefore my heart greatly rejoices. With my song I will thank him. ⁸ The LORD is the strength of his people. He is a stronghold of salvation to his anointed.

¹⁹ Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all.

¹ [For the Chief Musician. By David, the servant of the LORD.] Transgression speaks to the wicked within his heart. There is no fear of God before his eyes.

¹ I love the LORD, because he listens to my voice, and my cries for mercy. ² Because he has turned his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live. ³ The cords of death surrounded me, the pains of Sheol got a hold of me. I found trouble and sorrow. ⁴ Then I called on the name of the LORD: "LORD, I beg you, deliver my soul." ⁵ The LORD is Gracious and righteous. Yes, our God is merciful. ⁶ The LORD preserves the simple. I was brought low, and he saved me.

¹⁶ LORD, truly I am your servant. I am your servant, the son of your handmaid. You have freed me from my chains.

¹⁴ The LORD is my strength and song. He has become my salvation.

¹ [By David.] Blessed be the LORD, my Rock, who teaches my hands to war, and my fingers to battle: ² my loving kindness, my fortress, my high tower, my deliverer, my shield, and he in whom I take refuge; who subdues peoples under me.

¹ In that day you will say, "I will give thanks to you, the LORD; for you were angry with me, but your anger has turned away and you comfort me. ² Look, in the God of my salvation I will trust, and will not be afraid. For the LORD is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation." ³ Therefore with joy you will draw water out of the wells of salvation. ⁴ In that day you will say, "Give thanks to the LORD. Call on his name. Declare his doings among the peoples. Proclaim that his name is exalted. ⁵ Sing to the LORD, for he has done excellent things. Let this be known in all the earth. ⁶ Cry aloud and shout, you inhabitant of Zion; for the Holy One of Israel is great in the midst of you."

³⁶ For David, after he had in his own generation served the counsel of God, fell asleep, and was placed with his fathers, and saw decay.

¹³ I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

¹¹ strengthened with all power, according to the might of his glory, for all endurance and perseverance with joy;

⁵ Moses indeed was faithful in all his house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were afterward to be spoken,

¹⁹ We love, because he first loved us.
