⁸ They went out, and fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had come on them. They said nothing to anyone; for they were afraid.

²⁹ Then he said to Gehazi, "Tuck your cloak into your belt, take my staff in your hand, and go your way. If you meet any man, do not greet him; and if anyone greets you, do not answer him again. Then lay my staff on the face of the child."

⁸ They departed quickly from the tomb, frightened yet with great joy, and ran to bring his disciples word.

⁵ Entering into the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe, and they were amazed. ⁶ He said to them, "Do not be amazed. You seek Jesus, the Nazarene, who has been crucified. He has risen. He is not here. Look, the place where they put him.

⁴ Carry no money bag, nor pack, nor sandals; and greet no one on the way.

⁹ And returning from the tomb, they told all these things to the eleven and to all the rest. ¹⁰ Now they were Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James and the other women with them who told these things to the apostles. ¹¹ These words seemed to them to be nonsense, and they did not believe them.

²² Also, certain women of our company amazed us, having arrived early at the tomb; ²³ and when they did not find his body, they came saying that they had also seen a vision of angels, who said that he was alive. ²⁴ Some of us went to the tomb, and found it just like the women had said, but they did not see him."

³⁷ But they were terrified and filled with fear, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.
