³ Simon Peter said to them, "I'm going fishing." They told him, "We are also coming with you." They went out, and entered into the boat. That night, they caught nothing.

¹ The sons of the prophets said to Elisha, "See now, the place where we dwell before you is too small for us. ² Please let us go to the Jordan, and every man take a beam from there, and let us make us a place there, where we may dwell." He answered, "Go." ³ One said, "Please be pleased to go with your servants." He answered, "I will go." ⁴ So he went with them. When they came to the Jordan, they cut down wood. ⁵ But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water. Then he cried, and said, "Alas, my master. For it was borrowed." ⁶ The man of God asked, "Where did it fall?" He showed him the place. He cut down a stick, threw it in there, and made the iron float. ⁷ He said, "Take it." So he put out his hand and took it.

¹⁸ And walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers: Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew, his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. ¹⁹ And he said to them, "Come, follow me, and I will make you fishers of people." ²⁰ And they immediately left their nets and followed him.

⁵ Simon answered him, "Master, we worked all night, and took nothing; but at your word I will let down the nets."

¹⁰ and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. Jesus said to Simon, "Do not be afraid. From now on you will be catching people." ¹¹ When they had brought their boats to land, they left everything, and followed him.

³ and because he practiced the same trade, he lived with them and worked, for by trade they were tent makers.

³⁴ You yourselves know that these hands served my necessities, and those who were with me.

⁷ So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who makes it grow.

For we did not behave ourselves rebelliously among you, ⁸ neither did we eat bread from anyone's hand without paying for it, but in labor and travail worked night and day, that we might not burden any of you; ⁹ not because we do not have the right, but to make ourselves an example to you, that you should imitate us.
