⁵ He who denounces his friends for a prey, Even the eyes of his children shall fail.

⁵ you must not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them, for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, and upon the children's children, on the third and on the fourth [generation] of those who hate me,

⁶⁵ Among these nations you shall find no ease, and there shall be no rest for the sole of your foot: but the LORD will give you there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and pining of soul;

¹² Notwithstanding I will not do it in your days, for David your father's sake; but I will tear it out of the hand of your son.

²⁰ But the eyes of the wicked shall fail. They shall have no way to flee. Their hope shall be the giving up of the spirit."

²¹ Please do not let me respect any man's person, neither will I give flattering titles to any man. ²² For I do not know how to give flattering titles; or else my Maker would soon take me away.

² Everyone lies to his neighbor. They speak with flattering lips, and with a double heart. ³ May the LORD cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that boasts,

¹⁹ He who goes about as a tale-bearer reveals secrets; therefore do not keep company with him who opens wide his lips.

⁵ A man who flatters his neighbor spreads a net for his feet.

¹⁷ Our eyes still fail, looking in vain for our help. In our watching we have watched for a nation that could not save.

⁵ For neither were we at any time found using words of flattery, as you know, nor with a pretext for greed (God is witness),
