² So it came about when they had eaten up the grain which they had brought out of Egypt, that their father said to them, "Go again, buy us a little more food."

¹ Now Jacob learned that there was grain in Egypt, so Jacob said to his sons, "Why do you look at one another?" ² He said, "Look, I have heard that there is grain in Egypt. Go down there and buy some for us from there, so that we may live and not die."

⁴ If youʼll send our brother with us, weʼll go down and buy you food,

²⁰ and said, "My lord, we indeed came down the first time to buy food.

¹⁶ Better is little, with the fear of the LORD, than great treasure with trouble.

¹⁸ Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

¹⁶ She considers a field, and buys it. With the fruit of her hands, she plants a vineyard.

⁸ But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever.

⁶ But godliness with contentment is great gain. ⁷ For we brought nothing into the world, so neither can we carry anything out. ⁸ But having food and clothing, we will be content with that.
