² And the LORD was with Joseph, and he became a successful man. And he was in the household of his master the Egyptian.

²² It happened at that time, that Abimelech and Phicol the commander of his army spoke to Abraham, saying, "God is with you in all that you do.

²⁴ And God appeared to him the same night, and said, "I am the God of Abraham your father. Do not be afraid, for I am with you, and will bless you, and multiply your descendants for my servant Abraham's sake."

²⁸ They said, "We saw plainly that God was with you. We said, 'Let there now be an oath between us, even between us and you, and let us make a covenant with you,

¹⁵ And look, I am with you, and will watch over you wherever you go, and will bring you again into this land. For I will not leave you, until I have done that which I have spoken of to you."

²¹ But the LORD was with Joseph and showed him kindness and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison. ²² The keeper of the prison put Joseph in charge of all the prisoners who were in the prison; he was made responsible for everything that was done there.

⁹ "The patriarchs, moved with jealousy against Joseph, sold him into Egypt; and God was with him, ¹⁰ and delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favor and wisdom before Pharaoh, king of Egypt. He made him governor over Egypt and all his house.

³¹ He said, "How can I, unless someone explains it to me?" So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.

²⁰ Let each person stay in that calling in which he was called. ²¹ Were you called being a slave? Do not let that bother you, but if you get an opportunity to become free, use it. ²² For he who was called in the Lord being a slave is the Lord's free person. Likewise he who was called being free is Christ's slave. ²³ You were bought with a price. Do not become slaves of people. ²⁴ Brothers, let each one, in whatever condition he was called, stay in that condition with God.

¹ Let as many as are slaves under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honor, that the name of God and the doctrine not be blasphemed.

⁹ Exhort servants to be in subjection to their own masters, and to be well-pleasing in all things; not contradicting; ¹⁰ not stealing, but showing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God, our Savior, in all things.
