¹ Now these are the heads of their ancestral houses, and this is the genealogy of those who went up with me from Babylon, in the reign of Artachshasta the king:

³³ and all their villages that were around the same cities as far as Baal. These were their habitations, and they have their genealogy.

¹ So all Israel were reckoned by genealogies; and look, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel: and Judah was carried away captive to Babylon for their disobedience.

³⁴ These were heads of ancestral houses of the Levites, throughout their generations, chief men: these lived at Jerusalem.

³¹ These likewise cast lots even as their kinsmen the descendants of Aaron in the presence of David the king, and Zadok, and Ahimelech, and the heads of the ancestral houses of the priests and of the Levites; the ancestral houses of the chief even as those of his younger brother.

³² His brothers, men of valor, were two thousand seven hundred, heads of ancestral houses, whom king David made overseers over the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half-tribe of the Manassites, for every matter pertaining to God, and for the affairs of the king.

¹² The whole number of the heads of ancestral houses, even the mighty men of valor, was two thousand and six hundred.

The governor gave to the treasury one thousand darics of gold, fifty basins, and five hundred thirty priests' garments. ⁷¹ Some of the heads of ancestral houses gave into the treasury of the work twenty thousand darics of gold, and two thousand two hundred minas of silver.
