³⁷ David said, "The LORD who delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine." Saul said to David, "Go; and the LORD shall be with you."

²¹ Save me from the lion's mouth. Yes, from the horns of the wild oxen, you have answered me.

³⁹ The salvation of the righteous is from the LORD. He is their stronghold in the time of trouble. ⁴⁰ And the LORD helps them, and rescues them. He rescues them from the wicked, and saves them, Because they have taken refuge in him.

³¹ For he will stand at the right hand of the needy, to save him from those who judge his soul.

² The terror of a king is like the roaring of a lion. He who provokes him to anger forfeits his own life.

¹⁵ As a roaring lion or a charging bear, so is a wicked ruler over helpless people.

³⁰ "I have struck your children in vain. They received no correction. Your own sword has devoured your prophets, like a destroying lion.

²⁰ I will make you to this people a fortified bronze wall; and they shall fight against you, but they shall not prevail against you; for I am with you to save you and to deliver you," says the LORD. ²¹ "I will deliver you out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem you out of the hand of the terrible."

⁹ He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness." Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me.

⁸ To me, the very least of all saints, was this grace given, to proclaim to the non-Jews the unsearchable riches of Christ,

¹² Now I desire to have you know, brothers, that the things which happened to me have turned out rather to the progress of the Good News; ¹³ so that it became evident to the whole praetorian guard, and to all the rest, that my bonds are in Christ; ¹⁴ and that most of the brothers in the Lord, being confident through my bonds, are more abundantly bold to speak the word without fear.

¹² And I thank him who enabled me, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he counted me faithful, appointing me to service;

¹¹ persecutions, and sufferings: those things that happened to me at Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra. I endured those persecutions. Out of them all the Lord delivered me.

³³ who, through faith subdued kingdoms, worked out righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,

⁸ Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

⁹ the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptation and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment;
