³ Joab said to the king, "Now may the LORD your God add to the people, however many they may be, one hundred times; and may the eyes of my lord the king see it. But why does my lord the king delight in this thing?"

¹¹ The LORD, the God of your fathers, make you a thousand times as many as you are, and bless you, as he has promised you.

¹² Be courageous, and let us be strong for our people, and for the cities of our God; and the LORD do that which seems good to him."

³ Joab said, "May the LORD make his people a hundred times as many as they are. But, my lord the king, aren't they all my lord's servants? Why does my lord require this thing? Why will he be a cause of guilt to Israel?" ⁴ Nevertheless the king's word prevailed against Joab. Therefore Joab departed, and went throughout all Israel, and came to Jerusalem.

¹⁴ May the LORD increase you more and more, you and your children.
