¹³ So he despatched two of his disciples, telling them, "Go into the city and you will meet a man carrying a water-jar; follow him,

⁹ For though I am a man under authority myself, I have soldiers under me; I tell one man to go, and he goes, I tell another to come, and he comes, I tell my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it."

¹⁸ He said, "Go into the city to so-and-so; tell him that the Teacher says, 'My time is near, I will celebrate the passover at your house with my disciples.' " ¹⁹ So the disciples did as Jesus had told them, and prepared the passover.

² saying to them, "Go to the village in front of you. As soon as you enter it you will find a colt tethered, on which no one has ever sat; untether it and bring it here. ³ If anyone asks you, 'Why are you doing that?' say, 'The Lord needs it,' and he will send it back immediately."

³⁰ saying, "Go to the village in front, and on entering it you will find a colt tethered on which no one ever has sat; untether it and bring it. ³¹ If anyone asks you, 'Why are you untethering it?' this is what you will say, 'The Lord needs it.'" ³² The messengers went off and found the colt exactly as he had told them. ³³ As they were untethering it, the owners said to them, "Why are you untethering the colt?"

¹⁰ He said to them, "When you enter the city you will meet a man carrying a water-jar: follow him to the house he enters, ¹¹ and tell the owner of the house, 'The Teacher asks you, Where is the room in which I can eat the passover with my disciples?' ¹² Then he will show you a large room upstairs with couches spread; make your preparations there." ¹³ They went off and found it was as he had told them. So they prepared the passover,

¹⁴ You are my friends — if you do what I command you;

¹³ And no created thing is hidden from him; all things lie open and exposed before the eyes of him with whom we have to reckon.
