⁶ He is not here, he has risen. Remember how he told you when he was still in Galilee

⁴⁰ for as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the whale, so the Son of man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

²¹ From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he had to leave for Jerusalem and endure great suffering at the hands of the elders and high priests and scribes, and be killed and raised on the third day.

²² When his adherents mustered in Galilee Jesus told them, "The Son of man is to be betrayed into the hands of men; ²³ they will kill him, but on the third day he will be raised." They were greatly distressed at this.

³⁰ On leaving there they passed through Galilee. He did not want anyone to know of their journey, ³¹ for he was teaching his disciples, telling them that the Son of man would be betrayed into the hands of men, that they would kill him, and that when he was killed he would rise again after three days. ³² But they did not understand what he said, and they were afraid to ask him what he meant.

³³ "We are going up to Jerusalem," he said, "and the Son of man will be betrayed to the high priests and scribes; they will sentence him to death and hand him over to the Gentiles, ³⁴ who will mock him, spit on him, scourge him, and kill him; then after three days he will rise again."
