¹¹ When the scornefull is punyshed, the ignoraunt take the better hede: and when a wyse man is warned, he wyll receaue the more vnderstandynge.

³⁴ Ad all Israel that were aboute them fledde at the cry of them. For they said: The earth myght haply swalow vs vp also.

¹¹ And all Israel shal heare and feare and shal do no more any suche wyckednes as thys is amonge them.

²¹ Then let al the men of that citie stone him with stons vnto death And thou shalt put euell awaye from the, & all Israel shall heare & feare.

⁷ But God shal sodenly shote wyth an arow that they shalbe wounded. ⁸ Yea their owne tonges shall make them fall, in somuch that who so seyth them, shall laugh them to scorne. ⁹ And all men that se it shal saye: thys hath God done, for they shall perceyue that it is hys worcke.

⁵ By hearing, the wyse man shall come by more wysedome: & by experience

⁹ Geue a discrete man but an occasion, & he wilbe the wiser, teache a righteous man, and he will increase.

¹⁴ A wise hert wil seke after knowledge, but the mouth of foles medleth with folishnesse.

¹ Who so hath pleasure to sow dyscorde, pyketh a quarel in euery thyng.

¹⁵ A wyse herte laboureth for knowledge, and a prudent eare seketh vnderstanding

²⁵ If thou smitest a scorneful personne, the ignoraunt shall take better hede: & if thou reprouest one that hath vnderstanding, he will be the wyser.

⁵ When Ananias hearde these wordes, he fell doune and gaue vp the ghost. And great feare came on all them that hearde these thinges.

⁶ These are ensamples to vs that we should not luste after euyll thinges, as they lusted. ⁷ Neyther be ye worshippers of Images as were some of them accordynge at it is written: The people sate doune to eate and drynke, and rose vp agayne to playe. ⁸ Neyther let vs committe fornicacion as some of them committed fornycacyon, and were destroied in one day .xxiij. thousand. ⁹ Neither let vs tempte Christe as some of them tempted, and were destroyed of serpentes. ¹⁰ Neyther murmure ye as some of them murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer. ¹¹ Al these thinges happened vnto them for ensamples, and were written to put vs in remembraunce, whom the endes of the world are come vpon.

¹ Wherfor we ought to geue the more heede to the thynges which we haue heard, lest we perishe. ² For yf the word which was spoken by Angels was stedfast, so that euery transgression and disobedience receyued a iuste recompence to rewarde, ³ howe shal we escape, yf we despise so great saluacyon, whyche at the fyrst began to be preached of the Lorde hym selfe, and afterward was confirmed to vswarde, by them that hearde it,

²⁸ He that despyseth Moyses lawe, dyeth wythout mercye vnder two or thre wytnesses ²⁹ Of howe muche sorer punyshement suppose ye shal he be counted worthy, whych treadeth vnder fote the sonne of God: and counted the bloud of the testament as an vnholy thynge wherwyth he was sanctyfyed, and doth dishonour to the spyryte of grace.

¹³ And the same houre was there a greate earth quake, and the tenth parte of the cytye fell, and in the earth quake were slayne names of men seuen thousande, and the remnaunte were feared, and gaue glorye to GOD of heauen.
