³² And they sayde betwene them selues: did not our hertes burne within vs whyle he talked with vs by the waye, and as he opened to vs the scryptures?

³ My hert was hote within me, and whyle I was thus musyng, the fyre kindled: so that I spake wyth my tong.

³⁴ O that my wordes might please hym, for my ioye is in the Lorde.

⁹ The hert is glad of a swet ointment and sauoure, but a stomake that can geue good councel, reioiseth a mans neyghboure.

¹⁷ Lyke as one yron whetteth another, so doth one man conforte another.

⁴ The Lorde God hath geuen me a wel learned tunge, so that I can comforte them whiche are troubled, yea & that in due ceason. He waked myne eare vp by tymes in the mornynge (as the scolemasters do) that I myght herken.

¹⁶ When I had found thy wordes, I ate them vp gredely: they haue made my herte ioyfull & glad. For I call vpon thy name, O Lorde God of Hostes.

⁹ Wherfore, I thought from hence forth, not to speake of hym, ner to preach eny more in hys name. But the worde of the Lorde was a very burnynge fyre in my herte and in my bones, which when I wolde haue stopped I might not.

²⁹ Is not my worde lyke a fyre, sayeth the Lorde, and lyke an hammer, that breaketh the harde stone?

⁴⁵ Then opened he their wittes, that they myght vnderstande the scriptures,

⁶³ It is the spirite that quickeneth, the flesh proffetteth nothing. The wordes that I speake vnto you, are spirite and lyfe.

² And Paule as his maner was, went in vnto them, and thre Saboth dayes declared oute of the scripture vnto them, ³ openynge and aledgynge that Christe muste nedes haue suffered and rysen agayne from death, and that thys Iesus was Christe, whom (sayed he) I preache to you.

²³ And when they had appoynted him a daye, there came manye vnto him into hys lodgynge, to whom he expounded and testifyed the kingedome of God, and preached vnto them of Iesu: both out of the Prophetes, euen from morninge to nyghte.

¹² For the word of God is quicke and myghty in operacion, and sharper then anye two edged swerde, and entreth through, euen vnto the diuiding a sonder of the soule and the spirite, and of the ioyntes and the marie, and iudgeth the thoughtes and the ententes of the herte:
