¹⁵ All flesh shall come together vnto naught, & all men shall turne agayne vnto earthe.

¹⁹ In the swete of thy face shalt thou eate brede, vntyll thou returne vnto the erth whence thou wast taken: for erth thou art, & vnto erth shalt thou returne.

²² This one thyng wyll I saye: He destroyeth both the ryghtuous & vngodly.

⁹ O remembre (I beseke the) how that thou madest me of the mould of the earth, and shalt bring me to earth agayne.

²³ Sure I am, that thou wilt delyuer me vnto death: where as a lodgynge is prepared for all men lyuinge.

³ Thou turnest man to destruccyon, Agayne, thou sayest: come agayne ye chyldren of men ⁴ For a thousande yeares in thy sighte are but as yesterdaye that is past, and lyke as it were a nyght watch. ⁵ As sone as thou scatrest them, they are euen as a slepe, & fade awaye sodenly like the grasse. ⁶ In the mornyng it is grene and groweth vp, but in the euenynge it is cut doune and wythered. ⁷ For we consume awaye in thy displeasure, and are afrayed at thy wrathful indignacion. ⁸ Thou settest our misdedes before the, and our secrete sinnes in the light of thy countenaunce. ⁹ For when thou art angrye, all oure dayes are gone, we brynge our yeares to an ende, as it were a tale that is tolde. ¹⁰ The dayes of oure age are .iij. score yeares and ten: and though men be so strong that they come to foure score yeares, yet is their strength then but laboure, & sorowe: so soone passeth it awaye, and we are gone.

⁷ Or dust be turned agayn vnto earth from whence it came, and or the sprete returne vnto God, whyche gaue it.

⁴ Who wyll compell me, that I greatly forgettynge all faythfulnesse, shulde burne it vp at ones with thornes & bushes?

¹⁶ For I chide not euer, & am not wroth without ende. But the blastinge goeth from me, though I make the breath.
