⁴ that thrust the poore oute of the waie, and oppresse the simple of the worlde together.

¹⁴ Tymely in the mornynge do they aryse, to murthur the simple and poore, & in the night they go a stealynge.

¹² For I delyuered the poore when he cried, and the fatherlesse that wanted helpe.

²⁵ Dyd I not wype in the tyme of trouble? Had not my soule compassion vpon the poore?

¹⁶ When the poore desyreth any thinge at me, haue I denyed it them? Haue I caused the wyddowe stande wayting for me in vayne?

¹ To the chaunter, a Psalme of Dauid. Blessed is he, that consydereth the poore: the Lord shal deliuer him in the tyme of trouble.

¹⁶ And that because hys mynde was not to do good. but persecuted the poore helplesse, and hym that was vexed at the harte, to slay hym.

¹⁶ Who so doth a pore man wrong to increase his owne riches, geueth (commenly) vnto the rych, & at the last commeth to pouerte him selfe.

¹² When ryghtuous men are in prosperite, then doth honoure floryshe: but when the vngodly come vp, the state of men chaungeth.

²⁸ When the vngodlye are come vp, men are fayne to hyde them selues: but when they perysh, the ryghtuous increase.

¹⁴ This peoples teth are swerdes, and with their chafte bones they consume and deuour the simple of the earth, and the poore from among men.

² where thorow the pore are oppressed on euery syde, & the innocentes of my people are therwyth robbed of iudgement: that wyddowes maye be youre praye, and that ye maye robbe the fatherlesse.

¹² he greueth the poore & nedy: he robbeth and spoiled: he geueth not the detter his pledge againe he lyfteth vp his eyes vnto Idols, & medleth with abhominable thinges:

¹⁸ As for his father: because he oppressed and spoiled his brothers, and dyd wyckedly amonge his people: lo, he is dead in his owne sinne.

²⁹ The people in the lande vseth wicked extorcyon and robbery. They vexe the poore and nedye and oppresse the straunger agaynste ryghte.

⁷ They treade vpon poore mens heades, in the duste of the earthe, & croke the wayes of the meke. The sonne and the father go to the harlot, to dyshonoure thy holye name,

⁴ Heare this, O ye that oppresse the poore, and destroye the nedy in the lande, saying: ⁵ When wil the new moneth be gone, that we maye sell vytale, & the Sabboth, that we maye haue scarcenesse of corne: to make the busshell lesse, and the Sycle greater? ⁶ We shal set vp false waightes that we maye gett the poore vnder vs wyth their money, and the nedy also for shues: yee let vs sell the chaffe for corne.

¹ O wo vnto them, that Imagyn to do harme, & deuyse vngracyousnesse vpon their beddes, to perfourme it in the cleare daye: for there power is agaynst God. ² When they couet to haue lande, they take it by vyolence, they robbe men of their houses. Thus they oppresse a man for his house, & euery man for hys heretage.

⁴ Beholde the hyre of the labourers which haue reped doun your fieldes (which hyer is of you kept backe by fraude) crieth: & the cryes of them whiche haue reped, are entred into the eares of the Lorde Sabaoth ⁵ Ye haue lyued in pleasure on the earth, & in wantonnes. Ye haue norished your hertes, as in a day of slaughter ⁶ Ye haue condempned, & haue kylled the iuste, & he hath not resisted you.
