³ Hys substaunce was .vij.M. shepe .iij.M. camels .v.C. youck of oxen .v.C. she asses, & a very greate housholde: so that he was one of the moste principall men amonge all them of the east countre.

⁵ And Abram toke Sarai hys wyfe, and Lot hys brothers son, wt al their goodes which they had gotten, and soules whiche they had begotten in Haran. And they departed in goo into the Lande of Canaan.

¹⁶ which entreated Abram wel for hir sake, so that he had shepe oxen, & he Asses, men seruauntes, mayd seruantes, she asses, and camels.

⁶ so that the Land was not able to receyue them, that they myght dwell togither, for the substaunce of theyr riches was so greate, that they coulde not dwel togyther.

⁶ And vnto the sonnes of hys concubynes he gaue gyftes, and sent them away from Isaac hys sonne (whyle he yet lyued) eastwarde vnto the east contrye.

¹ Then Iacob lyfte vp hys fete, and wente towarde the east coutrye.

²³ Their goodes and their substaunce, & all theyr cattel are ours, only let vs consent vnto them, that they may dwell with vs.

⁷ And he began hys parable and said: Balac the king of Moab hath fette me from Mesopotamia out of the mountaynes of the east, sayinge: come and curse me Iacob, come & defye me Israel.

³² And the botye and the praye which the men of warre had caught was .vi. hundred thousande and .lxxv. thousand shepe: ³³ & .lxxij. thousand oxen ³⁴ .lxi. thousande asses:

³ For when Israel had sowen, then came the Madianites the Amalechites, & they of the east contreye vpon them & pitched their tentes agaynste them

⁵ for they came wyth theyr cattell & housholdes euen as greshopers in multitude: so that both they & also theyr camels were wythoute nombre. And they entrede the land to destroy it.

¹² And the Madianites, the Amalekites, and all they of the east, laye a long in the valeye, lyke vnto greshopers in multitude & theyr camelles were wythout nombre, euen as the sande by the sea syde in multitude.

¹⁰ Zebah and Zalmona were in Arkar & theyr hostes wyth them, vpon a .xv. thousand, whiche were all that were lefte of al the hostes of them of the Easte. And they that were slayne were a hundred & twentye thousand men that drew swerdes.

² And there was a man in Maon, whose catel was in Carmell, and the man was excedynge myghtye, and had thre thousand shepe and a thousande gootes. And he was sheringe his shepe in Carmel.

³⁰ so that Salomons wysdome exceded the wysdom of all them of the east countreye & all the wysdome of the Egypcyans.

⁴ And Mesa kynge of Moab whiche was riche of shepe (and was wont to render vnto the kinge of Israel an hundred thousand lambes, and as many ramnes wyth the wolle)

¹⁰ And he built toures in the wildernesse & digged many welles. For he had much catel, both in the valey and also in the playne: and plowmen and vinedressers in the mountaynes and in Charmel, for he loued husbandrye.

²⁹ And he made hym tounes, because he had catel of shepe & oxen great aboundaunce. For God had geuen him substaunce exceadyng muche.

⁹ when the Princes lefte of their talkinge, & layed their hande to their mouthe: ¹⁰ when the mighty kepte styll their voice, and when their tonges cleaued to the rofe of their mouthes.

²⁵ When I agreed vnto their waye, I was the chefe, and sat as a Kynge amonge hys seruauntes: Or as one that comforteth suche as be in heauynesse.

¹² And the Lorde made Iob rycher then he was before: for he had .xiiij.M. shepe .vi.M. camels, a .M. youcke of oxen, & a .M. asshes.

²² The blessing of the Lord maketh rich men, as for carefull trauayle, it doth nothynge therto.
