⁸ Wo be vnto you that ioyne one house to another, & bring one land so nyghe vnto another, tyll ye can get no more grounde. Wyll ye dwel vpon the earth alone?

¹⁶ And when Ahab heard that Naboth was dead. He stode vp to go doune to the vineyarde of Naboth the Iezrahelyte, to take possession of it. ¹⁷ And the worde of the Lorde came vnto Eliah the Thesbite saying, ¹⁸ vp and go doune to mete Ahab kynge of Israel whiche is in Samaria. Behold, he is in the vineiard of Naboth: for he is gone doune thither, to take possession of it. ¹⁹ And saye vnto him: thus saith the Lorde, thou hast killed & therto gotten possession. And saie moreouer vnto him, thus sayth the lord: in the place where dogges lapped the bloude of Naboth, shall dogges lappe euen thy bloude also. ²⁰ And Ahab sayd to Eliah: hast thou founde me thine enemy at any time? and he saide: ye, because thou art vtterly geuen to worcke wyckednesse in the syghte of the lord.

¹³ Wo worth him, that buyldeth hys house with vnrightuousnes, and hys parlers with the good that he hath gotten by violence: which neuer recompenseth hys neyghbours laboure, ner payeth hym his hyre. ¹⁴ He thyncketh in hym selfe: I wyll buylde me a wyde house, and gorgeous parlers: He causet windowes to be hewen therin, and the sylynges and geastes maketh he of Cedre, & paynteth them with Zenober. ¹⁵ Thinckest thou to raigne, now that thou prouokest me to wrath wyth the Cedre trees? Dyd not thy father eate and drincke, and prospere well, as longe as he dealt wt equite and ryghtuousnesse? ¹⁶ Yee when he helped the oppressed and poore to their ryght then prospered he well. From whence came this, but onlye because he had me before hys eyes, sayth the Lorde. ¹⁷ Neuertheles, as for thyne eyes & thine herte, they loke vpon couetousnesse, to shede innocent bloude, to do wronge and violence.

¹⁵ thou sonne of man: thy brethren: thy kynsfolke, and the whole house of Iuda, whiche dwell at Ierusalem, saye: They be gone farre from the Lord, but the lande is geuen vs in possessyon.

²⁴ Thou sonne of man, these that dwell in the wasted land of Israel, sayde: Abraham was but one man, & he had the lande in possessyon: now are we manye, & the lande is geuen vs to possesse also.

² When they couet to haue lande, they take it by vyolence, they robbe men of their houses. Thus they oppresse a man for his house, & euery man for hys heretage.

⁹ Wo vnto hym, that couetouslye gathereth euyll gotten goodes into hys house: that he maye set hys neste an hye, to escape from the power of mysfortune. ¹⁰ Thou hast deuysed the shame of thyne owne house, for thou haste slayne to muche people, and hast wylfully offended, ¹¹ so that the very stones of the wall shall crye oute of it, and the tymbre that lyeth betwixte the ioyntes of the buyldynge shal aunswere. ¹² Wo vnto hym, that buyldeth the towne wyth bloude, & maintaineth the citie wyth vnryghtuousnes.

¹³ Wo be vnto you Scribes and Phariseis, hypocrites, for ye shut vp the kyngdome of heauen before men: ye youre selues go not in, neyther suffer ye them that come to enter in.

¹⁶ And he put forth a simylitude vnto them, sayinge. The grounde of a certayne ryche man brought forth frutes plenteouslye, ¹⁷ and he thoughte in hym selfe sayinge: what shall I do? because I haue no roume where to bestowe my frutes? ¹⁸ And he sayed: Thys will I do. I wyl destroy my barnes, and buylde greater, and therein wyll I gather all my frutes, and my goodes, ¹⁹ and I wyll saye to my soule: Soule thou hast muche goodes layde vp in store for many yeares: take thyne ease, eate, drinke, and be mery. ²⁰ But God sayed vnto hym: Thou fole, thys nyghte wyll they fetche awaye thy soule agayne from the. Then whose shall these thinges be which thou haste prouyded? ²¹ So is it with hym that gathereth ryches, and is not ryche in God. ²² And he spake vnto hys disciples: Therfor I saye vnto you: Take no thoughte for youre lyfe, what ye shal eate, neyther for your body what ye shal put on. ²³ The lyfe is more then meate, and the bodye is more then raymente. ²⁴ Consyder the rauens, for they neyther sowe, nor repe, which neyther haue store house nor barne, and yet God fedeth them. Howe muche are ye better then the fowles.
