¹ Thys Melchysedech, kynge of Salem (whiche beynge prieste of the moost hye God met Abraham, as he returned agayne from the slaughter of the kynges, & blessed him:

¹⁸ Then Melchisedech kynge of Salem brought forth breade & wine. And he beynge the prieste of the moste hyghest God, ¹⁹ blessed him saying: Blessed be Abram vnto the most highest God, possessor of heauen & earth. ²⁰ And blessed be God the most highest, which hath deliuered thyne enemies into thy handes. And Abram gaue hym tythes of all.

¹⁴ Wherfore she called the well, the well of the lyuynge that seyth me whych well is betwene Cades and Bared. ¹⁵ And Hagar bare Abram a sonne, and Abram called his sons name whyche Hagar bare Ismael. ¹⁶ And Abram was .lxxxvi. yere olde, when Hagar bare him Ismael.

² I call vnto God the moste hyest, euen the God that shal helpe me vp agayne.

² At Salem is hys tabernacle, and his dwellinge in Sion.

³⁵ They thoughte then that God was theyr succour, and that the hye God was their redemer.

⁵⁶ For all this they tempted & displeased the most hye God, and kept not hys couenaunt.

² Who rayseth vp the iuste from the rysynge of the Sunne, and calleth him to go forth? Who casteth downe the people, and subdueth the kynges before him: that he maye thorowe them all to the grounde wyth hys swearde, and scatre them lyke stuble with hys bowe? ³ He foloweth vpon them, & goeth safely hym selfe, and cometh in no fote path with his fete.

² I thoughte it good to shew the tokens and meruelous worckes, that the hye God hath wrought vpon me.

¹⁸ O kynge, God the hyest gaue vnto Nabuchodonosor thy father, the dignite of a kynge with worshippe and honoure,

²¹ He was shote oute from amonge men, his herte was lyke a beastes herte, and hys dwellynge was wyth the wylde asses: he was fayne to eate grasse lyke an oxe, and hys body was wet with the dewe of the heauen: tyll he knewe, that the hyest had power vpon the kingdomes of men, and setteth ouer them, whome he lyst.

⁶ What acceptable thynge shall I offre vnto the Lord? shall I bowe my knee to the hye God? Shall I come before hym wyth brentoffrynges, and wyth calues of a yeare olde?

⁷ and cryed with a loude voyce, and sayde: what haue I to do with a loude voyce, and sayde: what haue I to do with the Iesus the sonne of the most hyest God? I requyre the in the name of God that thou torment me not.

¹⁷ The same folowed Paul and vs, & cryed, saiynge: These men are the seruauntes of the moste hye God, which shew vnto vs that waye of saluacyon.

²⁰ whether the fore runner is for vs entred in I meane Iesus that is made an hye prieste for euer, after the order of Melchysedech.
