⁴ There were tyrantes in the world in those dayes. For after that the chyldren of god had gone in, vnto the daughters of men, & had begotten them chyldren, the same chyldren were the mightiest of the world, & men of renowne.

⁴ And they sayed come on, let vs builde a citye & a tower, that the toppe may reach vnto heuen. And let vs make vs a name for peraduenture we shall be scatered abrod ouer al the erth.

³³ And there we sawe also gyauntes, the chyldren of Enack whych are of the gyauntes. And we semed in oure syght as it were greshoppers and so we dyd in their syght.

² stode vp before Moses, wyth other of the chyldren of Israell .ij. hundred and fyftye heades of the congregation and councelours, and men of fame,

²⁰ because I haue geuen it vnto the chyldren of Loth to possesse. That also was taken for a land of geauntes & geauntes dwelt therin in old tyme, and the Ammonites called them Zanzumins ²¹ A people that was great, many & talle, as the Enakims. But the Lord destroyed them before the Ammonites, & they cast them out & they dwelt there in their steade:

¹¹ For only Og king of Basan remayned of the remnaunt of the geauntes: behold, his yron bed is yet at Rabah among the children of Ammon .ix. cubytes longe & .iiij. cubites brode, of the cubites of a man.

⁴ And then came a man and stode in the myddes, out of the tentes of the Philistines named Goliath of Geth syxe cubytes and an handbredeth longe,

¹⁵ And the Philistines had yet agayne warre with Israel. And Dauid went doune and his seruauntes with hym, and fought with the Philistines. And Dauid waxed fayntie, ¹⁶ and Iesbi of Nob one of the sonnes of Haraphah whose speare heade wayed thre hundred sicles of Brasse, & was gyrde wyth a newe swerde thought to haue slayne Dauid. ¹⁷ But Abisai the sonne of Zaruiah succoured him & smote the Philistine and killed him. Then the seruauntes of Dauid sware vnto him sayinge. Thou shalt go no more out with vs to battel, that the lyght of Israel be not put out. ¹⁸ And there was yet after this battel with the Philistines at Nob, in whiche Sobochai the Husathite slew Saph of the sonnes of Haraphah. ¹⁹ And there was yet the third battel in Gob, with the Philistines, where Elhanan the sonne of the Iaere Orgim, a Bethlehemite slue one Goliath a Gethite: the staffe of whose speare was a great as a weauers cloth beame. ²⁰ And there was yet battel in Geth, where was a man of a size and had on euery hande .vi. fyngers, and on euery fote .vi. toes .xxiiij. in al. And was also of the kinred of Haraphah ²¹ and defyed Israel. And Ionathas the sonne of Samach the brother of Dauid slue hym: ²² These foure were the sonnes of Haraphah in Geth, and were ouerthrowen by the hande of Dauid & by the handes of his seruauntes.
