² And when they had eaten vp the corne which they brought out of the lande of Egypt, their father sayde vnto them: go agayn and by vs a lytle food.

¹ When Iacob sawe that ther was corne to be solde in Egypte, he sayd vnto hys sonnes: why are ye negligent? ² beholde, I haue harde that there is corne to be solde in Egypte. Gette you thyther and by vs corne from thence, that we maye lyue and not dye.

⁴ Therfore yf thou wylt sende oure brother wyth vs, we wyl go and bye the food.

²⁰ & sayde. Syr, we came hyther at the fyrste tyme to bye food,

¹⁶ Better is a litle with the feare of the Lord then great tresure, for they are not without sorowe.

¹⁸ Presumptuousnes goth before destruction, & after aproud stomake ther foloweth a fall.

¹⁶ Zain. She considreth lande, & byeth it, & wyth the frute of her handes she planteth a vyneyarde.

⁸ Yf there be anye that prouideth not for hys owne, & namely for them of hys housholde the same denyeth the fayth, & is worsse then an infydele.

⁶ Godlynes is greate ryches, yf a man be content with that he hath. ⁷ For we broughte nothynge into thys worlde & it is a playne case that we can carye nothyng out. ⁸ When we haue fode and raymente, let vs therwyth be content.
