⁵ And they departed. And the feare of God fel vpon the cities that were rounde aboute them, that they durste not folowe after the sonnes of Iacob.

³⁰ And Iacob sayd to Simeon and Leui: ye haue troubled me and made me stincke vnto the inhabitours of the Lande, boeth to the Canaanites and also vnto the Pherezites. And I am a fewe in numbre. Wherefore they shal gather them selues togyther against me & slee me, & so shal I and my house be destroied.

¹⁵ Than the dukes of the Edomytes were amased, and tremblyng came vpon the myghtiest of the Moabytes, & al the inhabiters of Canaan waxed faynte harted. ¹⁶ Let feare and dreade fall vpon them thorow the greatnesse of thyne arme, & let them be as styll as a stone: whyle thy people passe thorow o Lord, whyle the people passe thorowe, whych thou hast gotten.

²⁷ I wil sende my feare before the and will kill all the people whether thou shalt go. And I will make all thyne enemies turne their backes vnto the,

²⁴ for I wyll caste out the nations before the & wyll enlarge thy costes, so that no man shall desyre thy lande whylse thou goest vp to appeare before the face of the Lorde thy God, thryse in the yeare.

²⁵ There shall no man be able to stande before you: the Lorde your God shall caste the feare and dread of you vpon all landes whether ye shall come as he hath sayed vnto you.

⁹ and sayde vnto the men. I knowe that the Lorde hath geuen you the lande, bothe because that the feare of you is fallen vpon vs, and because that the enhabyters of the lande faynt at youre commyng. ¹⁰ For we haue hearde how the Lorde dried vp the water of the red sea before you, when you came out of Egypte, & what you dyd vnto the two kinges of the Amorytes on the other syde Iordan Sehon, and Og, which ye vtterlye destroyed. ¹¹ And as sone as we had hearde these thynges, our hertes dyd faynte. And there remayned no more courage in any man for feare of youre commynge. For the Lorde your God, he is the GOD in heauen aboue: and on the earth beneth.

¹ And when al the kinges of the Amorites which are on thys syde Iordan to the seaward, & al the kinges of the Cananites which lye on the sea hearde, howe the Lorde had dryed vp the water of Iordan before the chyldren of Israel, vntyl they were ouer, theyr hertes faynted in them. And there was no sprete in them any more, for feare of the commynge of the chyldren of Israel.

⁷ And toke a youke of oxen & hewed them in peces, & sent them thorowout al the coastes of Israel by the handes of messengers saying: whosoeuer cometh not forth after Saul & after Samuel, so shall hys oxen be serued. Then the feare of the Lord fel on the people, & they came out as it had ben but one man.

¹⁵ And there was a fear in the host that was in the felde, & among all the people: in so much that they that kept the hold and they that were gone to robbe, were afrayde also, and the earthe trymbled, and there was a feare sente of God.

¹⁴ And they smote all the cities rounde aboute Gerar. For the feare of the Lorde came vpon them. And they robbed all the cities, for there was exceadyng muche to be robbed in them.

¹⁰ And the feare of the Lorde fel vpon al the kyngedomes of the landes that were rounde aboute Iuda, that they durst not warre with Iehosaphat.

⁵ Therfore shall they be brought in greate feare, for God standeth by the generacion of the righteous.
