⁴¹ Thus haue I bene .xx. yere in thy house, & serued the .xiiij. yeres for thy .ij. daughters and .vi. yere for thy shepe, & thou hast chaunged my rewarde .x. tymes.

¹⁸ And Iacob loued hyr well, and sayd: I wyl serue the seuen yere for Rahel thy yongest doughter. ¹⁹ And Laban answered, it is better that I gyue hyr the then to to an other manne: byde therefore wyth me. ²⁰ And Iacob serued .vij. yere for Rahell, and they semed vnto hym but a fewe dayes, for the loue he had to hyr. ²¹ And Iacob sayed vnto Laban: gyue me my wyfe that I maye lye wyth hyr. For the tyme appoynted me is come. ²² Then Laban bade al men of that place, & made a feast. ²³ And when euen was come, he toke Lea hys doughter & brought hir to him & he went in vnto hyr. ²⁴ And Laban gaue vnto hys doughter Lea, Zilpha hys mayd, to be hyr seruaunt. ²⁵ And when the morning was come, behold it was Lea. Then saied he to Laban: wherefore hast thou played thus wt me? did not I serue the for Rahell, wherfore then hast thou begyled me? ²⁶ Laban answered: it is not the maner of thys place to mary the yongest before the eldest. ²⁷ Passe out this weke & then shal thys also be geuen the for the seruice which thou shalt serue me yet .vij. yeres more. ²⁸ And Iacob did euen so, & passed out that weke, & then he gaue him Rahel his doughter to wyfe also. ²⁹ And Laban gaue to Rahell hys doughter, Bilha hys handmayd to be hir seruaunte. ³⁰ So lay he by Rahell also, & loued Rahell more then Lea, and serued hym yet .vij. yere more.

³³ So shall my ryghtuousnes answere for me: when the tyme cometh that I shal receiue mi reward of the: so that whatsoeuer is not speckled & party amonge the gotes & blacke among the lambes, let that be theft with me. ³⁴ Then sayd Laban: Loo, I am content, that it be accordyng as thou hast sayed. ³⁵ And he toke out that same daye the he gootes that were party & of diuers colours, and all the she gootes that were spotted, & party coloured, & all that had whyte in them, & all the blacke amonge the Lambes: & put theim in the kepynge of hys Sonnes, ³⁶ and sette three dayes iourney betwyxte hym selfe and Iacob. Ind so Iacob kepte the reste of Labans shepe. ³⁷ Iacob toke roddes of grene popular, hasel & of chestnottrees, & pylled white strakes in them, & made the white apeare in the staues: ³⁸ And he put the staues whiche he had pilled, euen before the shepe in the gutters & watring troughes, when the shepe came to dryncke: that they shold conceyue when they came to drynke. ³⁹ And the shepe conceyued before the staues, & brought forth straked, spotted, and party. ⁴⁰ Then Iacob parted the lambes and turned the faces of the shepe toward the spotted things, & toward al maner of blake thinges thorow out the flockes of Laban. And he made him flockes of his own by them selfe, whiche he put not vnto the flockes of Laban.

⁷ And your father hath deceyued me, & chaunged mi wages .x. times: but God suffred him not to hurt me.

³⁸ Thys .xx. yere that I haue bene wt the thy shepe, & thy gotes haue not bene barren, & the rammes of thy flocke haue I not eaten.

¹⁰ But by the grace of God I am that I am. And his grace which is in me, was not in vaine, but I laboured more aboundantly then they al, not I but the grace of God which is with me.
