²⁹ Yf ye be Christes, then are ye Abrahams seede and heyres by promes.

¹⁰ Then she sayde vnto Abraham: put away this bondemaide & her sonne: for the sonne of this bondwoman shall not be heyre with my sonne Isaac: ¹¹ But the wordes semed verey greauous in Abrahams syghte, because of his sonne. ¹² Than the Lord sayd vnto Abraham: let it not be greauous vnto the, because of the ladd and of thy bondmayde: But in all that Sara hath sayde vnto the, heare her voyce, for in Isaac shall thy seed be called.

¹² and that he myghte be the father of the circumcysed, not because they are circumcysed only: but because they walke also in the steppes of that faythe that was in oure father Abraham before the tyme of circumcysyon. ¹³ For the promes that he shoulde be the heyre of the worlde, was not geuen to Abraham or to hys sede thorowe the lawe: but thorow the ryghtuousnesse which commeth of fayth. ¹⁴ For yf they whiche are of the lawe, be heyres, then is fayth but vayne, and the promes of none effecte.

¹⁶ Therfore by fayth is the inheritaunce geuen, that it myght come of fauoure: and the promes myghte be sure to all the seed. Not to them onelye, which are of the lawe: but also to them whiche are of the fayth of Abraham, which is the father of vs all. ¹⁷ As it is written: I haue made the a father to manye nacyons, euen before God whome thou haste beleued, whiche quickeneth the deade, and called those thinges whiche be not, as thoughe they were. ¹⁸ Whiche Abraham contrary to hope, beleued in hope that he shoulde be the father of manye nacyons, accordynge to that whiche was spoken. ¹⁹ So shall thy seed be. And he fainted not in the fayth, nor yet consydered hys owne bodye which was now dead, euen when he was almost an hondred year olde: neyther yet that Sara was past chylde bearynge. ²⁰ He stackered not at the promes of God thorowe vnbelefe: but was made stronge in the fayth and gaue honoure to God, ²¹ full certifyed, that what he had promysed, that he was able to make good.

¹⁷ Yf we be sonnes, we are also heyres, the heyres I meane of God, and heyres annexed with Christe yf so be that we suffer together, that we maye be glorified together.

⁷ neither are they al chyldren strayght way, because they are the seede of Abraham. But in Isaac shall thy seede be called: ⁸ that is to saye, they whiche are the chyldren of the fleshe, are not the chyldren of God. But the chyldren of promise are counted the seede.

²² whether it be Paule, other Apollo, other Cephas: whether it be the world, other lyfe, other deathe, whether they be present thynges or thinges to come: all are youres, ²³ and ye are Christes & Christ is Gods.

²³ and euery man in his owne order. The fyrste is Christe, then they that are Christes at his comminge.

⁷ Loke ye on thynges after the vtter apparence? Yf any man truste in hym selfe that he is Christes, let the same also consydre of him self that as he is Christes, euen so are we Christes

⁷ Vnderstande therfore, that they whiche are of fayth, the same are the chyldren of Abraham.

¹⁶ To Abraham and hys seede were the promyses made. He sayth not in the sedes as in manye: but in thy sede as in one, whiche is Christe.

²⁸ Nowe is there no Iewe neyther gentyle, ther is neyther bonde nor free: there is neyther man nor woman, but ye are all one thyng in christ Iesu.

⁷ Wherfore now thou art not a seruaunt but a sonne. Yf thou be the sonne, thou arte also the heyre of God thorowe Christe.

²² For it is writen, that Abraham had two sonnes, the one by a bonde mayd the other by a fre woman. ²³ Yea and he whiche was of the bond woman, was borne after the fleshe: but he whiche was of the fre woman, was borne by promes. ²⁴ Whiche thynges betoken misterye. For these women are two testamentes the one from the mounte Syna, whiche gendreth to bondage whiche is Agar. ²⁵ For mounte Syna is called Agar in Arabia, and bordreth vpon the citie, which is nowe Hierusalem, and is in bondage with her chyldren. ²⁶ But Hierusalem, whiche is aboue, is fre, whiche is the mother of vs all. ²⁷ For it is written: Reioyce thou baren, that bearest no chyldren: breake forth and crye, thou that trauaylest not. For the desolate hath many more children then she whiche hath an husband. ²⁸ Brethren we are after the maner of Isaac children of promes. ²⁹ But as then he that was borne carnally, persecuted him that was borne spirytuallye. Euen so is it nowe. ³⁰ Neuerthelesse what sayth the scripture: put awaye the bond woman and her sonne. For the sonne of the bond woman shall not be heyre with the sonne of the fre woman. ³¹ So then brethren we are not chyldren of the bonde woman, but of the fre woman.

²⁴ They that are Christes haue crucyfyed the fleshe with the appetytes and lustes.

⁶ that the Gentyles shoulde be inheritours also, and of the same bodye, and partakers of hys promes that is in Christe, by the meanes of the Gospell, ⁷ that we ones iustifyed by hys grace, shoulde be heyres of eternall lyfe, thorow hope.

¹⁴ Are they not al ministringe spirites, sent to minister for their sakes, whiche shal be heyres of saluation?

¹⁷ So God wyllynge verye aboundauntlye to shewe vnto the heyres of promes, the stablenes of hys counsayle, he added an othe,

⁷ By faythe Noe honoured God, after that he was warned of thynges whiche were not sene, and prepared the arcke to the sauynge of hys housholde, thorow the whiche arcke, he condemned the worlde, and became heyre of the rightuousnes that commeth by faythe.

¹⁸ of whom it was sayde, in Isaac shal thy sede be called,

⁵ Harken my deare beloued brethren. Hath not God chosen the pore of thys world, which are ryche in faythe, and heyres of the kyngedome whiche he promysed to them that loue hym?

⁷ He that ouercometh, shal inherete all thynges, & I wilbe his God, & he shall be my sonne.
