¹³ Be it knowne nowe therfore vnto the kynge that yf this cytye be buylded, and the walles made vp agayne, then shall not they geue trybute, tolle, and yearly custome, and euen vnto the kinges shal this hurt redound.

²⁰ There haue ben myghty kinges also at Ierusalem, whiche haue raigned ouer all that is beyonde the water, & tolle, tribute & yearly custome was geuen vnto them.

²⁴ And knowen be it vnto you, that ye shal haue no auctorite to requyre taxynge and custome, & yearly rentes vpon any of the pryestes Leuites, singers, porters, Nethinims & mynysters in the house of thys good.

⁴ But some sayde: let vs borowe money of the kynges trybute for oure landes and vyneyardes.

² Thy tonge ymagyneth wyckednesse, and with lyes it cutteth like a sharpe rasoure.

⁶⁹ The proud ymagyn lyes vpon me, but I kepe thy commaundementes with my whole herte.

⁹ And as Iesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man syt receyuyng of custome named Mathew, and sayd to hym: folow me.

²⁵ He sayd: yea. And when he was come into the house. Iesus spake fyrst to him, sayinge: What thinkest thou Simon? of whom do the kynges of the earth take tribute or pol money? of their chyldren, or of straungers?

⁶ And euen for thys cause paye ye trybute. For they are Goddes ministers, seruynge for the same purpose. ⁷ Geue to euerye man therfore hys dutye: Tribute to whom trybute belongeth: Custome to whom custome is due: feare to whome feare belongeth: Honoure to whom honoure pertayneth.
