⁶ kyl and destroye bothe olde men and yonge, maydens, chyldren, and wyues. But as for those, that haue thys marcke Than vpon them: se that ye touche them not, & begynne at my sanctuarye. Then they began at the elders, whiche were in the temple,

²³ For the Lord wyll goo aboute & smyte Egipte. And when he seyth the bloud vpon the vpper door poste & on the two syde postes, he wyl passe ouer the doore, & wyll not suffre the destroyer to come in to youre house to plage you.

¹⁵ and sayd vnto them: Haue ye saued the wemen alyue? ¹⁶ beholde these caused the chyldren of Israel thorow Balam, to commyt trespace agaynst the Lorde, by the reason of Peor, & there folowed a plage among the congregacion of the Lorde. ¹⁷ Now therfore slee al the men chyldren and the wemen that haue lien with men fleshlye:

³⁴ And we toke al his cyties the same ceason and destroyed al the cities with men, wemen and chyldren and let nothyng remayne,

⁶ And we vtterly destroyed them as we played wt Sehon kynge of Hesbon bryngyng to nought al the cities with men, wemen and chyldren.

¹⁸ Beholde, when we come into the land, thou shalt bynde thys purple threden coorde in the wyndowe, which thou lettest vs doune by. And thou shalte brynge thy father, thy mother, thy brethren, and all thy fathers housholde, euen into the house to the. ¹⁹ And then whosoeuer go oute at the dores of thy house, into the strete, hys bloud shalbe vpon hys owne head, and we giltlesse. And whosoeuer shalbe wyth the in the house, hys bloude be on oure heades yf any mannes hande be vpon hym:

¹⁷ But the cytye shalbe excommunicate, bothe it and all that is therein, vnto the Lord: onelye Rahab the harlot shall lyue, bothe she and all that is wyth her in the house, because she hydde the messengers that we sent. ¹⁸ And in any wyse beware of the excommunicate thynges, leaste ye make your selues excommunicate. For yf you take of the excommunicate thynges, so shall you make the hoste of Israel excommunicate and shall trouble it. ¹⁹ But of the syluer, golde, vesselles of brasse, & yron shalbe holye vnto the Lorde, and shall go in to hys treasurye. ²⁰ And the people cryed, and blewe with hornes: for when the people hearde the sounde of the hornes, they showted a great showte: and the walles fell doune, and the people wente vp into the cytye, euerye man strayght before hym, ²¹ and toke the cytye. And they vtterlye destroyed al that was in the cytye, bothe man and woman, younge & olde, oxe, shepe, & Asse, wyth the edge of the swerde. ²² Then Iosua sayde vnto the two men that went to spye oute the countreye: go into the harlottes house, and bryng out thence, bothe the woman & all that pertayneth to her, as ye sware to her. ²³ And the younge men that were spyes wente in, and brought oute Rahab, and her father, and mother, and all her brethren and all that she had. And they brought oute al her housholde, and put them wythout the hoste of Israel. ²⁴ And they burnt the cytye with fyre, and al that was therein. Only the syluer, the golde, & the thynges of brasse, and yeron they put vnto the treasure of the house of the Lorde. ²⁵ And Iosua saued Rahab the harlotte, & her fathers housholde and all that pertayned vnto her, & she dwelte in Israel, euen vnto thys daye, because she hydde the messengers whiche Iosua sent to spye out Iericho.

³ Now therfor go & smyte the Amaleckites, & onelye destroy ye all that pertayneth vnto them, & se thou haue no compassion on them. But slay both man & woman, infant & sucklyng, & oxe, shepe, camell & Asse.

¹⁷ And so he brought vpon them the kyng of Caldeye & slue theyr young men with the swerde in theyr holy temple, & nether spared younge man nor mayden, nether olde man, nether so moche as hym that stowped for age: But gaue all into his hande.

²⁹ For lo, I begynne to plage the cyty, that my name is geuen vnto: thynke ye then, that I will leaue you vnpunyshed? Ye shal not go quyte. For why, I call for a swearde vpon al the inhabitours of the earth, sayeth the Lord of Hostes.

⁵ And he sayde vnto me: Thou sonne of man, O lyfte vp thyne eyes, and loke towarde the northe. Then lyfte I vp myne eyes towarde the northe, and beholde: besyde the porte Northwarde, there was an aulter made vnto the ymage of prouocacyon in the verye entrynge in. ⁶ And he sayd further more vnto me: Thou sonne of man, seist thou what these do? Seyst thou the great abhomynacyons that the house of Israel commytte in this place? which oughte not to be done in my sanctuarye? But turne the aboute, and thou shalte se yet greater abhomynacyons. ⁷ And with that broughte he me to the courtegate, & when I loked, beholde, there was an hole in the wal. ⁸ Then sayd he vnto me: Thou sonne of man, dygge thorowe the wall. And when I dygged thorow the wal, behold, ther was a dore. ⁹ And he sayde vnto me: Go thy waye in, & loke what wycked abhomynacions they do there. ¹⁰ So I wente in, & sawe: and beholde, there were all maner ymages of wormes & beastes, all Idoles and abhominacions of the house of Israel paynted euery one round aboute the wall. ¹¹ There stode also before the ymages .lxx. lordes of the councell of the house of Israel, and in the myddeste of them stode Iaazamah the sonne of Saphan: and euerye one of them had a censoure in hys hande, and out of the incense, there wente a smoke, as it had bene a cloude. ¹² Then sayde he vnto me: Thou sonne of man, haste thou sene what the Senatoures of the house of Israel do secretly euerye one in hys chambre: For they saye: Tush, the Lorde seyth vs not, the Lord regardeth not the worlde. ¹³ And he sayde vnto me: Turne the yet agayne, and thou shalte se the greate abhomynacyons that they do. ¹⁴ And with that he broughte me to the dore of the port of the Lordes house, towarde the north. And beholde there sate women mournynge for Thamus. ¹⁵ Then sayde he vnto me: haste thou sene this thou sonne of man. Turne the about & thou shalte se yet greater abhomynacyons. ¹⁶ And so he broughte me into the inward court of the Lordes house: and beholde at the porte of the Lordes house, betwyxte the fore entrye and the aulter, there were fyue and twentye men, that turned theyr backes vpon the temple of the Lorde, and theyr faces towarde the east & these worshipped the sonne.

¹ Moreouer, the sprete of the Lorde lyft me vp, & broughte me vnto the Easte porte of the Lordes house. And beholde, there were .xxv. men vnder the dore among whome I sawe Iaazaniah the sonne of Azur, and Pheltiah the sonne of Bananiah, the rulers of the people.

² you only haue I accepted from all the generacyons of the earthe: therfore wyl I vyset you in all youre wickednesses.

⁴⁷ The seruaunt that knewe hys maysters wyl, and prepared not hym selfe, neyther dyd accordynge to his will, shalbe beaten with many strypes.

¹⁹ But the sure grounde of God remayneth, and hath thys seale: the Lord knoweth them that are his, & let euerye man that calleth on the name of Christe departe from iniquitie.

¹⁷ For the time is come that iudgemente must beginne at the house of God. Yf it fyrst begynne at vs, what shal the ende be of them, whiche beleue not the Gospel of God? ¹⁸ And yf the rightuous scasly be saued, where shal the vngodly and the sinner appere?

³ sayinge: Hurte not the earth, neyther the sea, neither the trees, tyl we haue sealed the seruauntes of oure God in their forheades.

⁴ And it was commaunded them, that they should not hurt the grasse of the earth, neyther any grene thinge, neither any tree, but onely those men which haue not the seale in their foreheades,

⁴ These are they, whiche were not defyled wt women for they are virgins. These folowe the lamb whether so euer goeth. These were redemed from men being the fyrst frutes vnto God & to the lamb,
