⁵ When a man taketh a newe wife, he shal not go a warrefare nether shalbe charged wt any busynesse: but shalbe fre at home one yere & reioyse with hys wyfe which he hath taken.

²⁴ For this cause shal a man leue father & mother, & cleue vnto hys wyfe, & they shal be one flesh.

⁷ And yf any man be betrauthed vnto a wyfe and haue not taken her, let hym go and returne agayn vnto his house, lest he dye in the battel and another take her.

¹⁸ Let thy well be blessed, and be glad wyth the wyfe of thy youth.

⁹ Vse thy selfe to lyue ioyfully with thy wyfe whom thou leuest, all the dayes of thy life, which is but vaine, that God hath geuen the vnder the Sunne, all the dayes of thy vanite: for that is thy porcion in this lyfe, of all thy laboure and trauayle that thou takeste vnder the Sunne.

⁴ He aunswered and sayde vnto them: Haue ye not reade, howe that he whiche made man at the beginnyng, made them man and woman ⁵ and sayd: for this thynge, shall a man leaue father and mother & cleaue vnto his wyfe, & thei twayne but one flesh. ⁶ Wherefore now are they not twaine, but one fleshe. Let not man therefore put a sunder, that whiche God hath couppled together.

⁶ But at the first creacion God made them man and woman. ⁷ And for this thinges seke shall man leaue his father and mother, & byde by hys wyfe, ⁸ and they twayne shall be one fleshe. So then are they nowe not twayne but one fleshe. ⁹ Therfore what God hath coupled, let not man separate:

¹⁰ Vnto the maryed commaunded not I but the Lorde: that the wyfe separate not her selfe from the man. ¹¹ Yf she separate her selfe, let her remayne vnmaryed, or be reconcilied to her husband againe. And let not the husband put away his wife from him. ¹² To the remnaunte speake I and not the Lord. Yf anye brother haue a wyfe that beleued not, if she be contente to dwel with hym, let him not put her awaye. ¹³ And the woman, which hath to her husband an infidele, if he consente to dwell with her, let her not put him awaie. ¹⁴ For the vnbeleuinge husbande, is sainctified by the wyfe: and the vnbeleuinge wife, is sainctified by the husbande. Or els were youre chyldren vnclene: but nowe are they pure. ¹⁵ But and if the vnbeleuinge departe, let him departe. A brother or a syster is not in subieccion to suche. God hath called vs in peace.

²⁹ This saye I brethren the tyme is short. It remaineth that they which haue wiues, be as though they had none,

²⁸ So ought men to loue theyr wyues, as their owne bodies. He that loueth hys wyfe, loueth him selfe. ²⁹ For no man euer yet hated hys owne fleshe, but norisheth and cherisseth it euen as the Lorde doeth the congregation.

⁴ to make the yong women sobre mynded, to loue theyr husbandes, to loue their chyldren, ⁵ to be dyscret, chast, huswyfly, good & obedyent vnto theyr owne husbandes, that the word of God be not euyl spoken of.
