¹ At the end of seuen yere thou shalt make a fre yere. And thys is the maner of the fre yere,

² If thou bye a seruaunt that is an Hebrue, sixe yeres he shall serue, & the seuenth he shal go out fre payng nothing.

¹⁰ Sixe yeres thou shalt sowe thy land and gather in the frutes therof: ¹¹ & the seuenth yere thou shalt let it rest and lye styl, that the poore of thy people may eate, and what they leaue, the beastes of the felde shall eate: In lyke maner thou shalt do wyth thy vineyard and thine oliue tres.

² speake vnto the children of Israel & saye vnto them. When ye be come into the Lande whyche I gyue you, let the Land rest a Sabbothe vnto the Lorde. ³ Syxe yeres thou shalt sowe thy felde, and syxe yere thou shalt cut thy vynes & gather in thy frutes. ⁴ But the seuenth yeare shall be a Sabothe of rest vnto the lande. The Lordes Saboth it shalbe, and thou shalt neuer sowe thy feylde nor cut thy vynes.

¹⁰ and commaunded them saying. At the ende of .vij. yere, in the time of the fre yere, in the feast of the tabernacles,

¹ The spirite of the Lorde God is with me, for the Lorde hath annointed me, & sent me, to preache good tydinges vnto the poore, that I myght binde vp the wounded hertes, that I myght preach delyueraunce to the captyue, and open the preson to them that are bounde: ² that I myght declare the acceptable yeare of the Lorde, and the daye of the vengeaunce of oure God: that I myghte comforte al them that are in heauynesse, ³ that I might geue vnto them that mourne in Sion bewtye in the steade of ashes, ioyful oyntment for syghing, pleasaunt rayment for an heauy mynde: That they might be called excellente in ryghteousnesse, a plantinge of the Lord for hym to reioyce in.

⁸ So Baruch the sonne of Neriah dyd, accordynge vnto all that Ieremy the Prophete commaunded him, readynge the wordes of the Lorde oute of the boke in the Lordes house. ⁹ And this was done in the fyfth yeare of Iehoakim, the sonne of Iosiah Kynge of Iuda, in the .ix. moneth when it was commaunded that all the people of Ierusalem shoulde fast before the Lorde, and they also that were come from the cytyes of Iuda vnto Ierusalem. ¹⁰ Then read Baruch the wordes of Ieremye oute of the boke within the house of the lorde, out of the treasury of Gamariah the sonne of Saphan the Scrybe, whiche is besyde the hyer lofte of the new dore of the lordes house: that al the people myght heare. ¹¹ Nowe when Micheah the sonne of Gamariah the sonne of Saphan had hearde all the wordes of the Lorde out of the boke, ¹² he wente doune to the Kinges palace into the Scrybes chambre, for there al the Prynces were set: Elisama the Scrybe, Dalaiah the sonne of Semei, Eluathan the sonne of Acabor, Gamariah the sonne of Saphan, Zedekiah the sonne of Hananiah, wyth all the Princes. ¹³ And Micheah tolde them all the wordes, that he hearde Baruch reade out of the boke before the people. ¹⁴ Then all the Prynces sent Iehudi the sonne of Nathaniah, the sonne of Selamiah, the sonne of Chusi, vnto Baruch, sayinge: Take in thyne hande the boke, wherout thou haste read before all the people, and come. So Baruch the sonne of Neriah toke the boke in his hande, & came vnto them. ¹⁵ And they sayde vnto him: Syt doune, and read the boke that we may heare also. So Baruch reade, that they might heare. ¹⁶ Now when they had heard all the wordes, they were abashed one vpon another, and sayde vnto Baruch: we wyl certifie the kynge of all these wordes. ¹⁷ And they examyned Baruch, saying: tell vs, howe diddest thou wrytte all these wordes out of hys mouth. ¹⁸ Then Baruch answered them: He spake all these wordes vnto me wt hys mouth and I alone was with him, and wrote them in the boke.

¹⁸ The spyryte of the Lorde vpon me, because he hath anointed me: to preache the gospell to the poore he hath sent me, and to heale the broken herted, to preache deliueraunce to the captiue, and syght to the blynde, and frely to set at lyberte them that are brused, ¹⁹ and to preache the acceptable yeare of the Lorde.
