⁸ And he sayde vnto me: what arte thou? and I sayde vnto hym: I am an Amalekite.

⁷ And then turned they & came to the well of Iudgemente whyche is Cades, and smot all the countrye of Amalechites, and also the Amorites that dwell in Hazezon Thamer.

⁸ Then came Amelech and fought with Israel Raphidim. ⁹ And Moises sayde vnto Iosua: chose out men and goo fighte wt Amelech. Tomorow I wil stonde on the toppe of the hyll and the rood of God in myne hand. ¹⁰ And Iosua dyd as Moses bade hym, and foughte with the Amelechites. And Moses, Aaron and Hur went vp to the toppe of the hyll. ¹¹ And when Moses helde vp his hande, Israel had the better. And when he lete hys hande doune, Amelech had the better. ¹² When Moses handes were weery, they toke a stone & put it vnder hym, and he satte downe thereon. And Aaron and Hur stayed vp hys handes, the one on the one syde, and the other on the other syde. And hys handes were steady vntill the sunne was downe. ¹³ And Iosua discomfyted Amelech and his people with the edge of the swerde. ¹⁴ And the Lorde sayed vnto Moses, write thys for a remembraunce in a boke and tell it vnto Iosua, for I wyll put out the remembraunce of Amelech from vnder heauen. ¹⁵ And Moses made an aulter and called the name of it Iehouah Nissi, ¹⁶ for he sayed: the hande is on the seate of the Lorde, that the Lorde wyll haue warre wyth Amelech thorow out all generations.

²⁰ And he loked on Amaleck and began hys parable and sayd: Amaleck is the first of the nations, but hys later ende shall peryshe vtterli.

¹⁷ Remembre what Amalech dyd vnto the by the waye after thou camest out of Egypte, ¹⁸ he mett the by the waye and smote the hyndmost of you, all that were ouer laboured and dragged by hynde, when thou wast faynted & werye, & he feared not God. ¹⁹ Therfore when the Lord thy God hath geuen the reast from al thyne euemyes rounde aboute, in the lande whych the Lord thy God geueth the to enheret and possesse: se that thou put oute the name of Amalech from vnder heauen, and forget not.

³ Now therfor go & smyte the Amaleckites, & onelye destroy ye all that pertayneth vnto them, & se thou haue no compassion on them. But slay both man & woman, infant & sucklyng, & oxe, shepe, camell & Asse.

⁸ And Dauid & hys men went & ranne vpon the Gesurites, the Gerzites and Amalekites: whyche nacions were from the begynnyng the enhabyters of the land, as men go to Sur, and so forthe to Egypte.

¹ Bvt yer Dauid and hys men were come to Zikeleg the third day, the Amalekites had runne in a runnynge vpon the south and vpon Zikeleg, and had smiten Zikeleg, and burnt wyth fyre

¹³ Then Dauid sayde vnto hym: to whom belongest thou and whence art thou? and the lad answered: I am an Egypcyan, and seruaunt to an Amalekite: and my master left me behynde because it is thre dayes a gone that I fel syck:

¹⁷ And Dauid layde vpon them from the twylyght vntyll the euen on the morow: so that there escaped not a man, saue foure hundre a young men, whyche rodde awaye vpon cameles and fledde.
