³⁵ And the selfe same nyght the Aungel of the Lorde went out & smote in the hoste of the Assirians an hundred four skore & fiue thousand. And when they were vp erly in the morning beholde, they were al dead corses.

²³ For the Lord wyll goo aboute & smyte Egipte. And when he seyth the bloud vpon the vpper door poste & on the two syde postes, he wyl passe ouer the doore, & wyll not suffre the destroyer to come in to youre house to plage you.

²⁹ And at mydnyght the Lorde smote all the fyrst borne in the land of Egypt: from the fyrst borne of Pharao that sat on his seat, vnto the fyrst borne of the captyue that was in presone, & all the fyrst borne of catell. ³⁰ Than Pharao arose the same nyght & al hys seruauntes and al the Egypcians: & there was a great crieng thorow out Egypte, for there was no house where there was not one deed.

¹⁶ And when the Aungel stretched out his hand vnto Ierusalem to haue destroyed it, the Lord had compassion to do that euyl, and sayde to the Aungel that destroyed the people: it is suffycyent: let thyne hande cease. And the aungell was at the thressinge place of Areunah the Iebusite.

¹² Chose the eyther thre yeares famyshement, or thre monethes to be consumed of thine aduersaries, the swerde of thyne enemyes ouertakynge the: or else the swerde of the Lord thre dayes and pestilence in the lande, the Aungel of the Lorde destroyinge thorowe oute all the coastes of Israel. And now aduise thy self what word I shal brynge againe to hym that sent me.

¹⁶ And Dauid lyfte vp hys eyes & saw the Aungel of the Lorde stand betwene the earth and heauen with a drawen swerde in his hande stretched oute towarde Ierusalem. Then fel Dauid & the elders of Israel clothed in sacke vpon their faces.

²¹ And the Lorde sent an angell & destroyed all the men of warre and the Lordes & capitaynes of the hoste of the kyng of Assur, that he turned hys face wyth shame towarde hys owne lande. And when he was come into the house of his God, he was there ouerthrowen wyth the swerde euen by them that issued oute of hys bowelles. ²² And so the Lorde saued Hezekiah and the enhabyters at Ierusalem oute of the handes of Sennaherib kynge of Assur and of all other, and mayntained them on all sydes.

⁵ Let them be as the dust before the winde, and the aungel of the Lord scateryng them. ⁶ Let their waye be darcke and slippery, & the aungell of the Lorde to persecute them.

⁵ The proude shalbe robbed and slepe their slepe, and the myghtye shalbe able to do nothyng with their handes. ⁶ When thou rebukest them, O God of Iacob, both the charrettes and horsemen shall fal on slepe. ⁷ Thou art fearful, for who maye abyde in thi sight, when thou art angry?

¹⁰ When thou punyshest one man, he muste knowledge that thou arte readye to punyshe other mo.

¹⁶ Therfore shall the Lorde of Hostes sende him pouerte in his ryches, and burne vp hys power, as it were wyth a fyre. ¹⁷ But the lyght of Israell shalbe that fyre, and his Sanctuarye shalbe the flamme, and it shal kyndle, and burne vp his thornes and breers in one daye, ¹⁸ ye all the glory of his woodes and feldes shalbe consumed with body and soule. As for hym selfe, he shalbe as one chased away. ¹⁹ The trees also of his felde shalbe of suche a nombre, that a chylde may tell them.

³³ But se the lorde God of hostes shall take awaye the proude from thence with feare. He shall hew doune the proude, and fel the hye minded.

³⁰ The Lorde also shall set vp the power of his voyce, and declare his terryble arme, wyth hys angry countenaunce yea and the flamme of the consumynge fyre, with earthquake, tempest of wynde, and haile stones. ³¹ Then shall the Assyryans feare also, because of the voyce of the Lorde, which shall smyte him with the rodde. ³² And the same rodde which the Lorde wil sende vpon hym, shall moue the whole foundacyon with trompet, with noyse of warre and battell to destroye. ³³ For he hath prepared the fyre of payne from the begynnynge, yea euen for Kynges also. This hath he made depe & wyde, the noryshing thereof is fyre & woode innumerable, whiche the breathe of the Lorde kyndleth, as it were a matche of brymstone.

³⁶ Thus the angel went forth, and slewe of the Assyrians hoste, an .clxxxv. thousande. And when men arose, vp earlye (at Ierusalem:) Beholde, all laye full of deed bodyes.

³⁰ The very same nyghte was Balthazar the kynge of the Caldees slayne,

⁷ Neuerthelesse I wyll haue mercy vpon the house of Iuda, and will saue them, euen thorow the Lord their God. But I wyll not delyuer them thorowe anye bowe, swearde, battel, horses, or horsemen.

²³ And immediatly the aungell of the Lorde smote hym, because he gaue not God the glorye, and he was eaten of wormes, and gaue vp the ghost.

² for ye youre selues knowe perfectly that the daie of the Lorde shall come euen as a thefe in the nyght. ³ When they shal say peace and no daunger, then commeth on them soden destruccion, as the trauaylynge of a woman wyth chyld, and they shal not escape.
