³⁰ And when the Philistines went out to warre, Dauid behaued hym selfe wyselyer then all the seruauntes of Saul: so that hys name was moche set bye.

³⁰ Wherfore the Lorde God of Israel sayth: I sayde that thyne house and the house of thy father shulde haue walked before me for euer. But now the Lorde sayth: that be farre from me: for them that worshyppe me, I wyll worshyp, & they that despyse me, shalbe despised.

⁵ And Dauid went oute to all that Saul sente hym, and behaued hym selfe wyselye. And when Saul hath set him ouer his men of warre, he pleased al the people, and Sauls seruauntes therto.

²¹ Then said Saul: I haue synned, come agayn my sonne Dauid, for I will do the no more harme, because my soul was preciouse in thine eyes this daye. Beholde, I haue played the fole & haue erred exceding muche.

¹ And it came to passe in the begynning of a new yeare, in the tymes when kinges are wont to go forth to battell, that Dauid sent Ioab & his seruauntes with him & all Israell. And they destroyed the children of Amnon, & beseged Rabah. But Dauid taryed styll at Ierusalem.

¹³ And when the third captaine ouer fyfty was come vp to him, he fel on hys knees before Eliah and besought hym & sayde vnto him: Oh man of God, let my lyfe & thy lyfe of these fyfty thy seruauntes be preciouse in thy sight.

¹⁵ right deare in the syghte of the Lorde is the death of his saynctes.

⁹⁹ I haue more vnderstandyng then all my teachers, for thy testimonies are my studye.

²⁰ whiche in all wysdome and matters of vnderstandynge, that he enquered of them, founde them ten tymes better then all the sothsayers and charmers, that were in all hys realme.

¹⁵ For I wyll geue you a mouthe and wisdome, where against all youre aduersaries shall not be able to speake nor resyste.

¹⁵ Take hede therfore that ye walke circumspectlye: not as foles, but as wyse

⁴ to whome ye come as vnto a lyuinge stone dysalowed of men, but chosen of God and precyous:

⁷ Vnto you therfor whiche beleue, he is precyous, but vnto them whiche beleue not, the stone whiche the buylders refused the same is made the head stone in the corner,
