¹⁹ Kings came and fought. Then fought the king of Canaan at Taanach, upon the water of Megiddo. But the silver that they coveted, they carried not away.

²² Then said Joshua, "Open the mouth of the cave, and bring out these five kings unto me out of the cave." ²³ And they did so, and brought those five kings unto him, out of the cave: the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon. ²⁴ And when they had brought out those kings unto Joshua: Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said unto the captains of the men of war, which came with him, "Come near and put your feet upon the necks of these kings." And they came near and put their feet upon the necks of them. ²⁵ And Joshua said unto them, "Fear not, nor dread: But be strong and pluck up your hearts, for so shall the LORD serve all your enemies against which ye fight." ²⁶ And then Joshua smote them and slew them and hanged them on five trees till evening. ²⁷ And at the going down of the sun, Joshua gave commandment, and they took them down off the trees and cast them into the cave, where they hid themselves, and laid great stones on the cave's mouth, which remain unto this day.

¹ And when Jabin king of Hazor had heard that, he sent to Jobab king of Madon, and to the king of Shimron, and to the king of Achshaph; ² and unto the kings that are by north in the mountains and plains, on the south side of Chinnereth, and in the low countries, and in the regions of Dor upon the sea; ³ and unto the Canaanites both by east and west: and unto the Amorites, Hittites, Perezites, and Jebusites in the mountains; and unto the Hivites under Hermon in the land of Mizpeh: ⁴ which came out, and all their hosts with them, a multitude of folk even as the sands of the sea in number with horses and chariots exceeding many. ⁵ And all these kings met together, and came and pitched together upon the water of Merom, for to fight with Israel. ⁶ And the LORD said unto Joshua, "Be not afraid of them: for tomorrow about this time I will deliver them all slain, before all Israel: and thou shalt hough their horses, and burn their chariots with fire." ⁷ And Joshua came, and all the men of war with him, against them: unto the water of Merom, suddenly, and fell upon them. ⁸ And the LORD delivered them into the hands of Israel: and they smote them and chased them, into great Sidon, and unto the hot waters, and unto the valley of Mizpeh eastward: and smote them until they had none remaining of them. ⁹ And Joshua served them as the LORD bade him, houghed their horses and burnt their chariots with fire. ¹⁰ Then Joshua at that time turned back and took Hazor and smote her king with the sword. For Hazor, before time, was the head of all those kingdoms. ¹¹ And they smote all the souls that were therein with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them, that no breath was let remain. And burnt Hazor with fire, ¹² and all the cities of those kings, with all the kings of them, Joshua took and smote them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed them as Moses the servant of the LORD commanded. ¹³ But Israel burnt none of the cities that stood upon hills, save Hazor only that Joshua burnt: ¹⁴ but all the spoil of the said cities and the cattle, the children of Israel caught unto themselves. But the men only they smote with the edge of the sword until they had destroyed them, ¹⁵ and had left no breath remaining. As the LORD commanded Joshua, and even so did Joshua: and diminished no word of all that the LORD commanded Moses.

²⁷ Neither did Manasseh expel Bethshean with her towns, neither Taanach with her towns, neither the inhabiters of Dor with her towns, neither the inhabiters of Ibleam with her towns, neither the inhabiters of Megiddo with her towns, and so the Cananites went to and dwelt in the said land.

¹³ And Sisera called for all his chariots, even nine hundred chariots of iron, and for all the people that he had, from Harosheth of the gentiles unto the river of Kishon.

³⁰ 'Haply, they have found, and divide, the spoil. A maid, yea two maids for a piece: a spoil of divers colours for Sisera, a spoil of divers colours with broidered works, divers coloured broidered works for the neck for a prey.'

¹² Baanah the son of Ahilud had Taanach, Megiddo, and all Bet-Shean which is by Zarethan beneath Jezreel, and from Bet-Shean to Abelmeholah and unto beyond Jokmeam;

¹² Thou sellest thy people for naught, and takest no money for them.

⁴ For lo, the kings of the earth were gathered, and gone by together. ⁵ They marveled, to see such things: they were astonished, and suddenly cast down. ⁶ Fear came there upon them, and sorrow as upon a woman in her travail.

¹² Kings with their armies did flee, and were discomfited; and they of the household divided the spoil. ¹³ Though ye have lain among the sheep-folds, yet shall ye be as the wings of a dove that is covered with silver wings, and her feathers like gold. ¹⁴ When the Almighty setteth kings upon the earth, it shall be clear even in the darkness; as white as snow in Zalmon.

⁸ It is better to trust in the LORD, than to put any confidence in man. ⁹ It is better to trust in the LORD, than to put any confidence in princes. ¹⁰ All nations compassed me round about; but in the name of the LORD will I destroy them. ¹¹ They kept me in, I say, on every side; but in the name of the LORD I will destroy them. ¹² They came about me like bees, and are extinguished even as the fire among the thorns; for in the name of the LORD I will destroy them.

¹² And the ten horns which thou seest, are ten kings, which have received no kingdom, but shall receive power as kings at one hour with the beast. ¹³ These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast. ¹⁴ These shall fight with the lamb, and the lamb shall overcome them: For he is Lord of Lords, and King of Kings: and they that are on his side, are called, and chosen, and faithful."

¹⁹ And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth, and their warriors gathered together to make battle against him that sat on the horse and against his soldiers.
