¹ For all these things purposed I in my mind to seek out. The righteous and wise, yea and their servants also are in the hand of God: and there is no man that knoweth either love or hate, but all things are before them.

³ How loved he the people? All his saints are in his hand. They shall set themselves down at thy feet, and receive of thy words.

⁹ He will keep the feet of his saints but the wicked shall keep silence in darkness. For in his own might shall no man be strong.

²⁵ Then said the king unto Zadok, "Carry the Ark of God again into the city. If I shall find favour in the eyes of the LORD, he will bring me again, and show me both it and the tabernacle thereof also. ²⁶ But and if the Lord thus say — 'I have no pleasure in thee' — behold, here am I, let him do with me what seemeth best in his eyes."

⁸ But now will I speak of the LORD, and talk of God:

¹⁰ In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all men.

¹⁴ Surely thou hast seen it; for thou beholdest ungodliness and wrong, that thou mayest take the matter into thy hand. The poor committeth himself unto thee, for thou art the helper of the friendless.

⁵ Into thy hands I commend my spirit; for thou hast redeemed me, O LORD, thou God of truth.

⁵ Commit thy way unto the LORD, set thy hope in him, and he shall bring it to pass. ⁶ He shall make thy righteousness as clear as the light, and thy just dealing as the noonday.

³ And why? I was grieved at the wicked, to see the ungodly in such prosperity.

¹¹ "Tush," say they, "How should God perceive it? Is there knowledge in the most high?" ¹² Lo, these are the ungodly, these prosper in the world, these have riches in possession; ¹³ and I said, "Then have I cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency?

³ Commit thy works unto the LORD, and look: what thou devisest, it shall prosper.

¹⁷ for thereunto I applied my mind: that I might know what were wisdom and understanding, what were error and foolishness. And I perceived that this also was but a vexation of mind:

¹⁵ These two things also have I considered in the time of vanity: that the just man perisheth for his righteousness' sake, and the ungodly liveth in his wickedness.

²⁵ I applied my mind also to knowledge, and to seek out science, wisdom and understanding: to know the foolishness of the ungodly, and the error of doting fools.

¹⁴ Yet is there a vanity upon earth: there be just men, unto whom it happeneth, as though they had the works of the ungodly; Again, there be ungodly, with whom it goeth as though they had the works of the righteous. This me think also a vain thing.

¹⁶ And so I applied my mind to learn wisdom, and to know the travail that is in the world; and that of such a fashion that I suffered not my eyes to sleep neither day nor night.

¹⁴ A fool is so full of words, that a man cannot tell what end he shall make. Who will then warn him of it that shall follow after him?

⁹ The same preacher was not wise alone, but taught the people knowledge also: he gave good heed, sought out the ground and set forth many parables. ¹⁰ His diligence was to find out acceptable words, right scripture, and the words of truth.

¹² But unto us, O LORD, provide for peace: for thou workest in us all our works.

¹ Hearken ye isles unto me, and give heed ye people that are afar. The LORD called me out of the womb and made mention of my name, when I was in my mother's bowels. ² And he made my mouth like a sharp sword. In the shadow he led me with his hand. And he made me as an excellent arrow, and hid in his quiver. ³ And he said to me, "Thou art my servant O Israel, in whom I will be glorified." ⁴ And I said, "I labour in vain and spend my strength for nought, and unprofitably. Howbeit, my cause I commit to the LORD and my travail unto my God."

¹⁸ For behold, this day do I make thee a strong fenced town, an iron pillar, and a wall of steel against the whole land; against the kings and mighty men of Judah; against the priests and people of the land. ¹⁹ They shall fight against thee, but they shall not be able to overcome thee: for I am with thee, to deliver thee, sayeth the LORD."

¹⁵ Therefore may we say, that the proud are happy, and that they which deal with ungodliness, are set up: for they tempt God and yet escape.' ¹⁶ But they that fear God, say thus one to another, 'The LORD considereth and heareth it. Yea, it is before him a memorial book, written for such as fear the LORD, and remember his name.' ¹⁷ And in the day that I will make, sayeth the LORD of Hosts, they shall be mine own possession: and I will favour them, like as a man favoureth his own son, that doth him service. ¹⁸ Turn you therefore, and consider what difference is betwixt the righteous and ungodly: betwixt him that serveth God, and him that serveth him not.

²⁷ My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. ²⁸ And I give unto them eternal life: and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. ²⁹ My father which gave them me, is greater than all men; and no man is able to take them out of my father's hand. ³⁰ And I and my father are one."

⁵ What is Paul? What thing is Apollos? Only ministers are they, by whom ye believed: even as the Lord gave every man grace. ⁶ I have planted. Apollos watered. But God gave increase. ⁷ So then, neither is he that planteth anything, neither he that watereth: but God which gave the increase. ⁸ He that planteth, and he that watereth, are neither better than the other. Every man yet shall receive his reward according to his labour. ⁹ We are God's laborers: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building. ¹⁰ According to the grace of God given unto me, as a wise builder have I laid the foundation; and another hath built thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth upon. ¹¹ For other foundation can no man lay, than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. ¹² If any man build on this foundation, gold, silver, precious stones, timber, hay, or stubble: ¹³ every man's work shall appear. For the day shall declare it, and it shall be showed in fire, and the fire shall try every man's work what it is. ¹⁴ If any man's work, that he hath built upon, abide; he shall receive a reward. ¹⁵ If any man's work burn; he shall suffer loss. But he shall be safe himself, nevertheless yet as it were through fire.

¹² for the which cause I also suffer these things. Nevertheless, I am not ashamed. For I know whom I have believed, and am sure that he is able keep that which I have committed to his keeping against that day.
