²⁰ When thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, 'What meaneth the witnesses, ordinances and laws which the LORD our God hath commanded you?'

²⁶ And when your children ask you, 'What manner of service is this ye do?'

¹⁴ And when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, 'What is this?' Thou shalt say unto him, 'With a mighty hand the LORD brought us out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

⁷ And thou shalt whet them on thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou art at home in thine house and as thou walkest by the way; and when thou liest down and when thou risest up.

⁶ that this may be a sign among you. And when your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, 'What mean ye with these stones?' ⁷ Then say unto them, 'How that the water of Jordan divided at the presence of the ark of the covenant of the LORD: even while it went over Jordan, the water of Jordan divided.' And these stones shall be a memorial unto the children of Israel forever."

²¹ And he spake unto the children of Israel, saying, "When your children ask you in time to come saying, 'What mean these stones?' ²² Show your children and say, 'Israel came over this Jordan on dry land.' ²³ For the LORD your God dried up the water of Jordan before you, until ye were over, as the LORD your God did unto the reed sea, which he dried up before us till we were over; ²⁴ that all the people of the world may know the hand of the LORD how mighty it is, and that ye might fear the LORD your God forever."

⁶ If thou teachest a child in his youth what way he should go; he shall not leave it when he is old.
