⁵ let the wise listen and gain instruction, and the discerning acquire wise counsel

³² Then David said to Abigail, “Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who sent you to meet me this day! ³³ Blessed is your discernment, and blessed are you, because today you kept me from bloodshed and from avenging myself by my own hand.

¹⁶ While he was still speaking, the king asked, “Have we made you the counselor to the king? Stop! Why be struck down?” So the prophet stopped, but he said, “I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not heeded my advice.”

¹⁰ Therefore listen to me, O men of understanding. Far be it from God to do wrong, and from the Almighty to act unjustly.

¹⁶ If you have understanding, hear this; listen to my words.

³⁴ Men of understanding will declare to me, and the wise men who hear me will say:

⁹⁸ Your commandments make me wiser than my enemies, for they are always with me. ⁹⁹ I have more insight than all my teachers, for Your testimonies are my meditation. ¹⁰⁰ I discern more than the elders, for I obey Your precepts.

⁹ Instruct a wise man, and he will be wiser still; teach a righteous man, and he will increase his learning.

¹ Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid.

¹⁵ I speak to reasonable people; judge for yourselves what I say.
