²² “How long, O simple ones, will you love your simple ways? How long will scoffers delight in their scorn and fools hate knowledge?

³ So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and told him, “This is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: ‘How long will you refuse to humble yourself before Me? Let My people go, so that they may worship Me.

²⁸ Then the LORD said to Moses, “How long will you refuse to keep My commandments and instructions?

²⁷ “How long will this wicked congregation grumble against Me? I have heard the complaints that the Israelites are making against Me.

⁷ What man is like Job, who drinks up derision like water?

¹ Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, or set foot on the path of sinners, or sit in the seat of mockers.

⁸ Take notice, O senseless among the people! O fools, when will you be wise?

⁴ To impart prudence to the simple and knowledge and discretion to the young,

⁷ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.

²⁹ For they hated knowledge and chose not to fear the LORD.

³⁴ He mocks the mockers, but gives grace to the humble.

¹² and you will say, “How I hated discipline, and my heart despised reproof!

⁹ How long will you lie there, O slacker? When will you get up from your sleep?

⁷ I saw among the simple, I noticed among the youths, a young man lacking judgment,

⁵ O simple ones, learn to be shrewd; O fools, gain understanding.

⁴ “Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!” she says to him who lacks judgment. ⁵ “Come, eat my bread and drink the wine I have mixed. ⁶ Leave your folly behind, and you will live; walk in the way of understanding.”

¹⁶ “Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!” she says to him who lacks judgment. ¹⁷ “Stolen water is sweet, and bread eaten in secret is tasty!” ¹⁸ But they do not know that the dead are there, that her guests are in the depths of Sheol.

⁶ A mocker seeks wisdom and finds none, but knowledge comes easily to the discerning.

¹² A mocker does not love to be reproved, nor will he consult the wise.

²⁹ Judgments are prepared for mockers, and beatings for the backs of fools.

¹¹ When a mocker is punished, the simple gain wisdom; and when a wise man is instructed, he acquires knowledge.

¹³ But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

²⁹ Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. ³⁰ For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

¹⁷ “O unbelieving and perverse generation!” Jesus replied. “How long must I remain with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring the boy here to Me.”

³⁷ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those sent to her, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were unwilling!

⁴² and said, “If only you had known, even you, at least on this day what would bring you peace! But now it is hidden from your eyes.

²⁰ Everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come into the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.

³ Most importantly, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires.

¹⁷ The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” Let the one who hears say, “Come!” And let the one who is thirsty come, and the one who desires the water of life drink freely.
