⁸ You have bound me, and it has become a witness; my frailty rises up and testifies against me.

¹¹ God has delivered me to unjust men; He has thrown me to the clutches of the wicked. ¹² I was at ease, but He shattered me; He seized me by the neck and crushed me. He has set me up as His target; ¹³ His archers surround me. He pierces my kidneys without mercy and spills my gall on the ground. ¹⁴ He breaks me with wound upon wound; He rushes me like a mighty warrior. ¹⁵ I have sewn sackcloth over my skin; I have buried my horn in the dust. ¹⁶ My face is red with weeping, and deep shadows ring my eyes;

⁶ then understand that it is God who has wronged me and drawn His net around me. ⁷ Though I cry out, ‘Violence!’ I get no response; though I call for help, there is no justice. ⁸ He has blocked my way so I cannot pass; He has veiled my paths with darkness. ⁹ He has stripped me of my honor and removed the crown from my head. ¹⁰ He tears me down on every side until I am gone; He uproots my hope like a tree. ¹¹ His anger burns against me, and He counts me among His enemies.

¹⁹ God will hear and humiliate them—the One enthroned for the ages—Selah because they do not change and they have no fear of God.

¹¹ Moab has been at ease from youth, settled like wine on its dregs; he has not been poured from vessel to vessel or gone into exile. So his flavor has remained the same, and his aroma is unchanged.

¹² And at that time I will search Jerusalem with lamps and punish the men settled in complacency, who say to themselves, ‘The LORD will do nothing, either good or bad.’
