⁶² The day after—that is, the day following the Preparation—the chief priests and Pharisees went in a body to Pilate and said:

¹⁷ On the first day of the feast of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and said, "Where do you want us to make preparation for you eat the Passover?"

¹ And when the morning came, all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus, how they might put him to death. ² After they had bound him, they led him away, and handed him over to Pilate, the Roman Governor.

⁴² Toward sunset, as it was the preparation (that is the day preceding the Sabbath),

⁵⁴ And it was the day of preparation and the Sabbath was near at hand. ⁵⁵ Then the women who had accompanied him out of Galilee followed after, and noted the tomb, and how his body was placed. ⁵⁶ Then they returned and prepared spices and perfumes.

¹⁴ And it was the day of Preparation for the Passover, about six o'clock in the morning. Then he said to the Jews, "Behold your King!"

³¹ It was Preparation Day, so in order to prevent the bodies' hanging on the cross during the Sabbath (for the Sabbath was a great day) the Jews begged Pilate to have the legs broken, and the bodies taken away.

⁴² Here, because of its being Preparation Day, and as the tomb was near by, they placed Jesus.
