¹³ He who covers his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.

⁹ And Jehovah said to Cain, Where is Abel your brother? And he said, I do not know. Am I my brother's keeper?

¹⁶ Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron in haste and he said, I have sinned against Jehovah your* God and against you*. ¹⁷ Now therefore I beseech you, forgive my sin only this once and entreat Jehovah your* God, that he may only take away from me this death.

⁴⁰ And they will confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers, in their trespass which they trespassed against me and also that, because they walked contrary to me, ⁴¹ I also walked contrary to them and brought them into the land of their enemies. If then their uncircumcised heart be humbled and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity, ⁴² then I will remember my covenant with Jacob and also my covenant with Isaac and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember and I will remember the land.

¹³ And Samuel came to Saul. And Saul said to him, You are blessed of Jehovah. I have performed the commandment of Jehovah.

²⁴ And Saul said to Samuel, I have sinned, for I have transgressed the commandment of Jehovah and your words, because I feared the people and obeyed their voice.

³⁰ Then he said, I have sinned. I beseech you, yet honor me now before the elders of my people and before Israel and turn again with me, that I may worship Jehovah your God.

⁴⁷ yet if they will rethink themselves in the land where they are carried captive and turn again and make supplication to you in the land of those who carried them captive, saying, We have sinned and have done perversely, we have dealt wickedly, ⁴⁸ if they return to you with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their enemies who carried them captive and pray to you toward their land, which you gave to their fathers, the city which you have chosen and the house which I have built for your name, ⁴⁹ then hear you their prayer and their supplication in heaven your dwelling place and maintain their case,

³³ if like Adam I have covered my transgressions by hiding my iniquity in my bosom

²⁷ He sings before men and says, I have sinned and perverted what was right and it did not profit me.

³ Because I kept silence, my bones wasted away through my groaning all the day long. ⁴ Because day and night your hand was heavy upon me. My moisture was changed as with the drought of summer. Selah.
⁵ I acknowledged my sin to you and I did not hide my iniquity. I said, I will confess my transgressions to Jehovah and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

¹ Have mercy upon me, O God, according to your loving kindness. According to the multitude of your tender mercies blot out my transgressions. ² Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. ³ Because I know my transgressions and my sin is always before me.
⁴ Against you, you only, I have sinned and done what is evil in your sight, that you may be justified when you speak and may prevail when you are criticized.
⁵ Behold, I was brought out in iniquity and my mother conceived me in sin.

¹⁰ Create in me a clean heart, O God and renew a right spirit within me.

¹² Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all transgressions.

⁹ He who covers a transgression seeks love, but he who repeats a matter separates chief friends.

²² For though you wash with lye and take much soap, yet your iniquity is marked before me, says the lord Jehovah. ²³ How can you say, I am not defiled; I have not gone after the Baals? See your way in the valley. Know what you have done, a swift dromedary traversing her ways,

¹² Go and proclaim these words toward the north and say, Return, you backsliding Israel, says Jehovah, I will not look in anger upon you*, for I am merciful, says Jehovah. I will not keep anger everlasting.
¹³ Only acknowledge your iniquity, that you have transgressed against Jehovah your God and have scattered your ways to the strangers under every green tree and you* have not obeyed my voice, says Jehovah.

²⁰ And while I was speaking and praying and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel and presenting my supplication before Jehovah my God for the holy mountain of my God, ²¹ yes, while I was speaking in prayer, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation.
²² And he instructed me and talked with me and said, O Daniel, I have now come out to give you wisdom and understanding. ²³ At the beginning of your supplications the commandment went forth and I have come to tell you, for you are a great delight. Therefore consider the matter and understand the vision.

⁶ And they were being immersed by him in the Jordan, confessing their sins. ⁷ But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his immersion, he said to them, Offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the future wrath? ⁸ Therefore produce fruit worthy of repentance. ⁹ Do not think to say among yourselves, We have Abraham for our father; for I say to you, that God is able to lift up children out of these stones for Abraham. ¹⁰ But even already, the ax is laid to the root of the trees, because every tree which is not producing good fruit is cut down and cast into the fire.

²⁵ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you cleanse the outside of the cup and the plate, but they are full from swindling and unrighteousness inside. ²⁶ Blind Pharisee! First cleanse the cup from within and the plate, in order that the outside of them might also become clean.
²⁷ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you are similar to whitewashed burial chambers, which on the outside indeed appear beautiful, but inside are full of dead men’s bones, and full of all uncleanness. ²⁸ So on the outside you indeed appear also righteous to men, but inside, you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

⁴ saying, I have sinned, giving up innocent blood.
But they said, What is that to us? You will see to it. ⁵ And tossing the pieces of silver in the temple, he departed. And having gone away, he hanged himself.

And they began to be joyous.

²⁰ But I was proclaiming first to them in Damascus, and in Jerusalem, and then to all the region of Judea and to the Gentiles, to repent and to turn to God, practicing works worthy of repentance.

⁸ If we should say that we have no sin, we are misleading ourselves and the truth is not in us. ⁹ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. ¹⁰ If we should say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar and his word is not in us.
