¹ And all the people gathered themselves together as one man into the broad place that was before the water gate. And they spoke to Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which Jehovah had commanded to Israel.
² And Ezra the priest brought the law before the assembly, both men and women and all who could hear with understanding, upon the first day of the seventh month. ³ And he read in it before the broad place that was before the water gate from early morning until midday, in the presence of the men and the women and of those who could understand. And the ears of all the people were attentive to the book of the law. ⁴ And Ezra the scribe stood upon a pulpit of wood, which they had made for the purpose. And beside him stood Mattithiah and Shema and Anaiah and Uriah and Hilkiah and Maaseiah, on his right hand and on his left hand, Pedaiah and Mishael and Malchijah and Hashum and Hashbaddanah, Zechariah, and Meshullam. ⁵ And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people (for he was above all the people) and when he opened it, all the people stood up.
⁶ And Ezra blessed Jehovah, the great God. And all the people answered, Truly, Truly, with the lifting up of their hands. And they bowed their heads and worshiped Jehovah with their faces to the ground. ⁷ Also Jeshua and Bani and Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah and the Levites, caused the people to understand the law. And the people stood in their place. ⁸ And they read in the book, in the law of God, distinctly and they gave the sense, so that they understood the reading.
⁹ And Nehemiah, who was the governor and Ezra the priest the scribe and the Levites who taught the people, said to all the people, This day is holy to Jehovah your* God; do not mourn nor weep. For all the people wept when they heard the words of the law.
¹⁰ Then he said to them, Go your* way, eat fat things and drink sweet things and send portions to him for whom nothing is prepared. For this day is holy to our Lord; neither be you* grieved, for the joy of Jehovah is your* strength.
¹¹ So the Levites quieted all the people, saying, Be silent, for the day is holy, neither be you* grieved. ¹² And all the people went their way to eat and to drink and to send portions and to make great gladness, because they had understood the words that were declared to them.
¹³ And on the second day were gathered together the heads of fathers of all the people, the priests and the Levites, to Ezra the scribe, even to give attention to the words of the law. ¹⁴ And they found written in the law how that Jehovah had commanded by Moses that the sons of Israel should dwell in booths in the feast of the seventh month, ¹⁵ and that they should proclaim and proclaim in all their cities and in Jerusalem, saying, Go forth to the mountain and fetch olive branches and branches of wild olive and myrtle branches and palm branches and branches of thick trees, to make booths, as it is written.

¹⁸ Also day by day, from the first day to the last day, he read in the book of the law of God. And they kept the feast seven days and on the eighth day was a solemn assembly according to the ordinance.

¹ Then all the sons of Israel went out. And the congregation was assembled as one man, from Dan even to Beer-sheba, with the land of Gilead, to Jehovah at Mizpah.

⁸ And all the people arose as one man, saying, We will not any of us go to his tent, neither will we any of us turn to his house.

¹⁵ And Hilkiah answered and said to Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of Jehovah. And Hilkiah delivered the book to Shaphan.

¹ And when the seventh month came and the sons of Israel were in the cities, the people gathered themselves together as one man to Jerusalem. ² Then Jeshua the son of Jozadak and his brothers the priests and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and his brothers, stood up and built the altar of the God of Israel, to offer burnt offerings on it as it is written in the law of Moses the man of God.
³ And they set the altar upon its base, for fear was upon them because of the peoples of the countries. And they offered burnt offerings on it to Jehovah, even burnt offerings morning and evening. ⁴ And they kept the feast of tabernacles as it is written and offered the daily burnt offerings by number according to the ordinance, as the duty of every day required.
⁵ And afterward the continual burnt offering and the offerings of the new moons and of all the set feasts of Jehovah that were consecrated and of everyone who willingly offered a free-will offering to Jehovah. ⁶ From the first day of the seventh month they began to offer burnt offerings to Jehovah. But the foundation of the temple of Jehovah was not yet laid.
⁷ Also they gave money to the masons and to the carpenters and food and drink and oil, to those of Sidon and to those of Tyre, to bring cedar trees from Lebanon to the sea, to Joppa, according to the grant that they had of Cyrus king of Persia.
⁸ Now in the second year of their coming to the house of God at Jerusalem, in the second month, Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Jeshua the son of Jozadak and the rest of their brothers the priests and the Levites and all those who came out of the captivity to Jerusalem, began. And they appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, to have the oversight of the work of the house of Jehovah.
⁹ Then Jeshua with his sons and his brothers, Kadmiel and his sons, the sons of Judah, stood together to have the oversight of the workmen in the house of God: the sons of Henadad, with their sons and their brothers the Levites.
¹⁰ And when the builders laid the foundation of the temple of Jehovah, they set the priests in their apparel with trumpets and the Levites the sons of Asaph with cymbals, to praise Jehovah, after the order of David King of Israel. ¹¹ And they sang one to another in praising and giving thanks to Jehovah, saying, For he is good, for his loving kindness is everlasting toward Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised Jehovah, because the foundation of the house of Jehovah was laid.
¹² But many of the priests and Levites and heads of fathers, the old men who had seen the first house, when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, wept with a loud voice. And many shouted aloud for joy ¹³ so that the people could not discern the noise of the shout of joy from the noise of the weeping of the people. For the people shouted with a loud shout and the noise was heard afar off.

⁶ this Ezra went up from Babylon. And he was a skilled scribe in the law of Moses, which Jehovah, the God of Israel, had given. And the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of Jehovah his God upon him.

¹¹ Now this is the copy of the letter that the king Artaxerxes gave to Ezra the priest, the scribe, even the scribe of the words of the commandments of Jehovah and of his statutes to Israel:

³⁷ And they went up by the fountain gate and straight before them, by the stairs of the city of David, at the ascent of the wall, above the house of David, even to the water gate eastward.

²⁰ Seek to the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, surely there is no morning for them.

⁸ How can you* say, We are wise and the law of Jehovah is with us? But, behold, the false pen of the scribes has worked falsely. ⁹ The wise men are put to shame. They are dismayed and taken. Behold, they have rejected the word of Jehovah and what manner of wisdom is in them?

⁴ You* remember the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded to him in Horeb for all Israel, even statutes and ordinances.

⁵² Now he said to them, Because of this, every scribe who has been made a disciple to the kingdom of the heavens is similar to a man who is a householder, who casts forth out of his treasure, new and old things.

² saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit upon the seat of Moses.

¹³ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you are devouring widows’houses, and praying long prayers for a pretext, because of this, you will be receiving even-more condemnation.

³⁴ Because of this, behold, I am sending to you prophets and wise men and scribes, and out of them you will be killing and will be crucifying, and some of them you will be scourging in your synagogues and will be persecuting from city to city,

²⁴ Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, will be a solemn rest to you*, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation.

¹ And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you* will have a holy convocation. You* will do no job work. It is a day of alarming-joy to you*.

¹⁸ And it will be, when he sits upon the throne of his kingdom, that he will write for him a copy of this law in a book, out of it before the priests the Levites,

⁹ And Moses wrote this law and delivered it to the priests the sons of Levi, who bore the ark of the covenant of Jehovah and to all the elders of Israel. ¹⁰ And Moses commanded them, saying, At the end of every seven years, in the set time of the year of release, in the feast of tabernacles, ¹¹ when all Israel has come to appear before Jehovah your God in the place which he will choose, you will read this law before all Israel in their hearing.
¹² Assemble the people, the men and the women and the little ones and your traveler who is within your gates, that they may hear and that they may learn and fear Jehovah your* God and observe to do all the words of this law, ¹³ and that their sons who have not known may hear and learn to fear Jehovah your* God as long as you* live in the land where you* go over the Jordan to possess it.

⁷ Also in the third year of his reign he sent his rulers, even Ben-hail and Obadiah and Zechariah and Nethanel and Micaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah; ⁸ and with them the Levites, even Shemaiah and Nethaniah and Zebadiah and Asahel and Shemiramoth and Jehonathan and Adonijah and Tobijah and Tob-adonijah, the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.
⁹ And they taught in Judah, having the book of the law of Jehovah with them. And they went about throughout all the cities of Judah and taught among the people.

⁹ Whom will he teach knowledge? And whom will he make to understand the message? Those who are weaned from the milk and drawn from the breasts?

⁷ For the priest's lips should keep knowledge and they should seek the law at his mouth. For he is the messenger of Jehovah of hosts.

²¹ For Moses has those who preach him in every city, from ancient generations, being read in the synagogues every Sabbath.

²⁸ And it happened, when Jesus had completed with these words, the crowds were being astounded at his teaching; ²⁹ for he was teaching them like one having authority and not like the scribes.

³⁷ Therefore David himself calls him Lord, and is he his son? From where? And the large crowd was gladly hearing him.

¹⁶ And he came to Nazareth, where he was reared up, and according to his custom, he entered into the synagogue on the Sabbath day and stood up to read. ¹⁷ And the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him. And having unrolled the scroll and found the place where it had been written, ¹⁸ ‘ The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, in that, he anointed me to proclaim the good-news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the crushed in heart, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to send forth the downtrodden in deliverance, ¹⁹ to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.’ ²⁰ And having furled the scroll and giving it back to the attendant, he sat down, and the eyes of all were staring at him in the synagogue.

¹⁸ Therefore beware, how you hear; for whoever has, more will be given to him, and whoever does not have, even what he seems to have will be taken away from him.

⁴⁸ And they were not finding what they might do; for the people were all hanging on him, listening.

¹⁵ Now after the public-reading of the law and the prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent for them, saying, Men, brethren, if there is a word of encouragement to the people in you, speak it.

²⁷ For those dwelling in Jerusalem and their rulers who were ignorant of this one, and the voices of the prophets which are read on every Sabbath, they fulfilled them by having judged him to death. \ulnone\nosupersub

¹⁴ And a certain woman, Lydia by name, a seller of purple of the city of Thyatira was hearing us and worshiping God, whose heart the Lord opened to take-heed to the things being spoken from Paul.

¹¹ Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they accepted the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily, to see if these things were so.

⁷ Now on the first day of the week, the disciples having been gathered together with us to break bread, Paul was reasoning many things with them, being about to go away on the next-day, and he was prolonging the speech till midnight.

¹¹ Now when he had gone up, and having broken the bread and having eaten and conversed on for a considerable time till dawn, so he went away.

²³ Now having appointed him a day, they were coming to him, into the lodging in great number; to whom he was expounding the word, thoroughly testifying of the kingdom of God also persuading them with the things concerning Jesus, both from the Law of Moses and from the prophets, from morning until dusk.

¹³ And we also are constantly giving-thanks to God because of this, because, when you accepted the word of God from our report, you accepted it not as the word of men, but just-as it truly is, the word of God, which is also working in you who believe.

¹ Because of this, we ought to take-heed even-more to the things which were heard, lest we might drift away. ² For if the word spoken through the messengers became steadfast and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward; ³ how shall we flee, having neglected so-great a salvation, which having received at the beginning was spoken through the Lord, which was confirmed to us from those who heard it?

⁷ Meshullam, Abijah, Mijamin,

²⁰ Magpiash, Meshullam, Hezir,

²⁵ Rehum, Hashabnah, Maaseiah,

⁵ and Maaseiah the son of Baruch, the son of Col-hozeh, the son of Hazaiah, the son of Adaiah, the son of Joiarib, the son of Zechariah, the son of the Shilonite.

⁷ And these are the sons of Benjamin: Sallu the son of Meshullam, the son of Joed, the son of Pedaiah, the son of Kolaiah, the son of Maaseiah, the son of Ithiel, the son of Jeshaiah.

¹³ from Ezra: Meshullam; from Amariah: Jehohanan;

²⁰ And Ehud came to him. And he was sitting by himself alone in the cool upper room. And Ehud said, I have a message from God to you. And he arose out of his seat.

¹⁴ And the king turned his face around and blessed all the assembly of Israel. And all the assembly of Israel stood.

¹⁶ And he came to Nazareth, where he was reared up, and according to his custom, he entered into the synagogue on the Sabbath day and stood up to read. ¹⁷ And the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him. And having unrolled the scroll and found the place where it had been written,

²² And Abram said to the King of Sodom, I have lifted up my hand to Jehovah, God Most High, possessor of heaven and earth,

²⁶ And the man bowed his head and worshiped Jehovah.

³¹ And the people believed. And when they heard that Jehovah had visited the sons of Israel and that he had seen their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshiped.

²⁷ that you* will say, It is the sacrifice of Jehovah's Passover, who passed over the houses of the sons of Israel in Egypt, when he killed* the Egyptians and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshiped.

²⁴ And there came out fire from before Jehovah and consumed the burnt offering and the fat upon the altar. And when all the people saw it, they shouted and fell on their faces.

²⁰ And David said to all the assembly, Now praise Jehovah your* God. And all the assembly praised Jehovah, the God of their fathers and bowed down their heads and bowed-down to Jehovah and the king.

⁴ And he said, Praise Jehovah, the God of Israel, who spoke with his mouth to David my father and has with his hands fulfilled it, saying,

¹⁸ And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground. And all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell down before Jehovah, worshiping Jehovah.

³⁰ Moreover Hezekiah the king and the rulers commanded the Levites to sing praises to Jehovah with the words of David and of Asaph the seer. And they sang praises with gladness and they bowed their heads and worshiped.

¹³ Also I shook out my lap and said, So God shake out every man from his house and from his labor, who does not perform this promise, even thus be he shaken out and emptied. And all the assembly said, Truly and praised Jehovah. And the people did according to this promise.

² Hear the voice of my supplications when I cry to you, when I lift up my hands toward your holy oracle.

¹³ Praise Jehovah, the God of Israel, from everlasting and to everlasting. Truly and Truly.

⁴ So I will bless you while I live. I will lift up my hands in your name.

¹⁸ Praise Jehovah God, the God of Israel, who alone does wondrous things. ¹⁹ And praise his glorious name everlasting. And let the whole earth be filled with his glory. Truly and Truly.

² Lift up your* hands to the sanctuary and praise Jehovah.

² Let my prayer be set forth as incense before you, the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

⁶ even the prophet Jeremiah said, Truly! Jehovah do so. Jehovah perform your words which you have prophesied, to bring again the vessels of Jehovah's house and all those of the captivity, from Babylon to this place.

⁴¹ Let us lift up our heart with our hands to God in the heavens.

¹³ And do not bring us into temptation, but rescue us from the evil one, because yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

³⁹ And when he went a little more, he fell upon his face and prayed, saying, My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from me; however, not as I will, but as you will.

¹⁶ Otherwise if you give-thanks with the spirit, how will he who fills the place of the unskilled say the amen upon your thanksgiving, since he does not know what you are saying?

³ The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ is gracious, who has blessed us in every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,

⁸ Therefore I will that the men pray in every place, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and evil reasoning.

³ The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ is gracious, who according to his much mercy has born us again into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

¹¹ And all the messengers and the elders and the four living creatures stood in a circle of the throne, and they fell upon their faces in the sight of the throne and worshiped God,

¹¹ and that you* may teach the sons of Israel all the statutes which Jehovah has spoken to them by Moses.

¹⁰ They will teach Jacob your ordinances and Israel your law. They will put incense before you and whole burnt offering upon your altar.

²² And Hezekiah spoke encouragingly to all the Levites who had good understanding in the service of Jehovah. So they ate throughout the feast for the seven days, offering sacrifices of peace offerings and making confession to Jehovah, the God of their fathers.

¹⁸ And according to the good hand of our God upon us they brought us a man of discretion, of the sons of Mahli, the son of Levi, the son of Israel and Sherebiah, with his sons and his brothers, eighteen,

²² And of the sons of Pashhur: Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethanel, Jozabad and Elasah.
²³ And of the Levites: Jozabad and Shimei and Kelaiah (what is Kelita), Pethahiah, Judah and Eliezer.

¹⁷ After him the Levites, Rehum the son of Bani, repaired.
Next to him Hashabiah, the ruler of half the district of Keilah, repaired for his district.

¹⁹ And next to him Ezer the son of Jeshua, the ruler of Mizpah, repaired another portion opposite the ascent to the armory at the turning of the wall.

²³ After them Benjamin and Hasshub repaired opposite their house.
After them Azariah the son of Maaseiah the son of Ananiah repaired beside his own house.

⁴ And Ezra the scribe stood upon a pulpit of wood, which they had made for the purpose. And beside him stood Mattithiah and Shema and Anaiah and Uriah and Hilkiah and Maaseiah, on his right hand and on his left hand, Pedaiah and Mishael and Malchijah and Hashum and Hashbaddanah, Zechariah, and Meshullam.

⁴ Then Jeshua and Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani, and Chenani, stood up upon the stairs of the Levites and cried with a loud voice to Jehovah their God.

⁹ And the Levites: namely, Jeshua the son of Azaniah, Binnui of the sons of Henadad, Kadmiel, ¹⁰ and their brothers, Shebaniah, Hodiah, Kelita, Pelaiah, Hanan,

¹² Zaccur, Sherebiah, Shebaniah, ¹³ Hodiah, Bani, Beninu.

¹⁶ and Shabbethai and Jozabad of the chiefs of the Levites who had the oversight of the outward business of the house of God,

¹⁹ Moreover the gatekeepers, Akkub, Talmon and their brothers, who kept watch at the gates, were a hundred seventy-two.

²⁴ And the chiefs of the Levites: Hashabiah, Sherebiah and Jeshua the son of Kadmiel, with their brothers opposite them, to praise and give thanks, according to the commandment of David the man of God, watch next to watch. ²⁵ Mattaniah and Bakbukiah, Obadiah, Meshullam, Talmon, Akkub, were gatekeepers keeping the watch at the store-houses of the gates.

³³ and Azariah, Ezra and Meshullam,

⁴¹ and the priests, Eliakim, Maaseiah, Miniamin, Micaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah and Hananiah, with trumpets, ⁴² and Maaseiah and Shemaiah and Eleazar and Uzzi and Jehohanan and Malchijah and Elam and Ezer. And the singers sang loud, with Jezrahiah their overseer.

² And Jehovah answered me and said, Write the vision and make it plain upon tablets, that he may run who reads it.

²¹ You have heard that it was said to the ancients, ‘Do not murder,' but ‘whoever murders will be liable to the judgment.’ ²² But I say to you, that everyone who is vainly angry to ward his brother will be liable to the judgment, and whoever says to his brother, You, empty-head, will be liable to the council, but whoever says, You fool, will be liable to the hell of fire.
{Vainly can be: with emptiness (without cause or reason; i.e. to further one's own vanity)}

{Empty-head is an expression of contempt. The Greek here could be simply ‘fool’said as an expression of condemnation or could be a transliteration of ‘Moreh’which is a Hebrew expression of condemnation. In Mat 5:22 the wording doesn’t matter; it’s the way it is said or meant.}

²⁷ You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’ ²⁸ But I say to you, that everyone who is looking at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

²⁷ And beginning from Moses and from all the prophets, he was clarifying for them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.

³² And they said to one another, Were our hearts not burning in side us, as he was speaking to us on the road, and as he was opening the Scriptures to us?

⁴⁵ Then he opened their mind to understand the Scriptures.

³⁰ Now Philip having ran up to him, heard him reading Isaiah the prophet and said, Do you know then what you are reading?
³¹ But he said, For how am I able, if someone does not guide me? And he pleaded with Philip to come up and sit together with him. ³² Now the passage of the Scripture which he was reading was this: ‘He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and like a lamb in front of the one who is shearing him is voiceless, thus he does not open his mouth. ³³ His judgment was taken away in his humbleness. But who will be describing his generation? Because his life is taken from the earth.’ ³⁴ But Philip answered and said to the eunuch, I am beseeching you, concerning whom is the prophet speaking about in this? Is he speaking concerning himself or concerning some other person?
³⁵ Now Philip opened his mouth and beginning from this Scripture, proclaimed the good-news of Jesus to him.

² Now according to his custom, Paul entered to them and upon three Sabbath days reasoned with them from the Scriptures, ³ opening and placing before them that it was essential for the Christ to have suffered and to have risen up from the dead, and that this Jesus, whom I am proclaiming to you, is the Christ.

¹ And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you* will have a holy convocation. You* will do no job work. It is a day of alarming-joy to you*. ² And you* will offer a burnt offering for a sweet aroma to Jehovah: one young bullock, one ram, seven male-lambs a year old without blemish, ³ and their meal offering, fine flour mingled with oil, three tenth parts for the bullock, two tenth parts for the ram, ⁴ and one tenth part for every lamb of the seven lambs, ⁵ and one male-goat for a sin offering, to make atonement for you*, ⁶ besides the burnt offering of the new moon and the meal offering of it and the continual burnt offering and the meal offering of it and their drink offerings, according to their ordinance, for a sweet aroma, an offering made by fire to Jehovah.

⁷ And there you* will eat before Jehovah your* God and you* will rejoice in all that you* put your* hand to, you* and your* households, in which Jehovah your God has blessed you.

¹² And you* will rejoice before Jehovah your* God, you* and your* sons and your* daughters and your* men-servants and your* maid-servants and the Levite who is within your* gates–inasmuch as he has no portion nor inheritance with you*.

¹¹ And you will rejoice before Jehovah your God, you and your son and your daughter and your man-servant and your maid-servant and the Levite who is within your gates and the traveler and the fatherless and the widow, who are in the midst of you, in the place which Jehovah your God will choose to cause his name to dwell there,

¹⁴ And you will rejoice in your feast, you and your son and your daughter and your man-servant and your maid-servant and the Levite and the traveler and the fatherless and the widow, who are within your gates.
¹⁵ Seven days you will keep a feast to Jehovah your God in the place which Jehovah will choose, because Jehovah your God will bless you in all your increase and in all the work of your hands and you will be altogether joyful.

¹⁴ I have not eaten of it in my mourning, neither have I put away from it, being unclean, nor given of it for the dead. I have listened to the voice of Jehovah my God. I have done according to all that you have commanded me.

¹¹ And it happened, when the king had heard the words of the book of the law, that he tore his clothes.

¹⁹ because your heart was tender and you humbled yourself before Jehovah when you heard what I spoke against this place and against the inhabitants of it, that they should become a desolation and a curse and have torn your clothes and wept before me, I also have heard you, says Jehovah.

³ Now for a long time Israel was without the true God and without a teaching priest and without law.

¹⁹ And it happened, when the king had heard the words of the law, that he tore his clothes.

²¹ Go, inquire of Jehovah for me and for those who are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book that is found. For great is the wrath of Jehovah that is poured out upon us, because our fathers have not kept the word of Jehovah, to do according to all that is written in this book.

³ And he said to the Levites who taught all Israel, who were holy to Jehovah, Put the holy ark in the house which Solomon the son of David King of Israel built. There will no more be a burden upon your* shoulders. Now serve Jehovah your* God and his people Israel.

² And Ezra the priest brought the law before the assembly, both men and women and all who could hear with understanding, upon the first day of the seventh month.

⁷ Also Jeshua and Bani and Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah and the Levites, caused the people to understand the law. And the people stood in their place. ⁸ And they read in the book, in the law of God, distinctly and they gave the sense, so that they understood the reading.

¹ Now those who sealed were: Nehemiah the governor, the son of Hacaliah and Zedekiah,

²⁶ These were in the days of Joiakim the son of Jeshua, the son of Jozadak and in the days of Nehemiah the governor and of Ezra the priest the scribe.

⁴ a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,

³ to appoint to those who mourn in Zion, to give to them a garland for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness, that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of Jehovah, that he may be glorified.

⁶ My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you, that you will be no priest to me. Since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your sons.

¹³ And this again you* do: You* cover the altar of Jehovah with tears, with weeping and with sighing, insomuch that he does not regard the offering any more, nor receives it with good will at your* hand.

²⁰ because no flesh will be made righteous in his sight from the works of the law; for through the law comes the full knowledge of sin.

⁹ But I was previously living separate from the law, but when the commandment came, sin lived again through me and I died;

⁹ I now rejoice, not that you were made sorrowful, but that you were made sorrowful to repentance; for you were made sorrowful according to the will of God, in order that you might suffer-damage in nothing from us. ¹⁰ For the sorrow which is according to the will of God is working unregrettable repentance for salvation, but the sorrow of the world is working death. ¹¹ For behold how much diligence this same thing, (your being sorrowful according to the will of God), has worked in you : but what a defense, but what indignation, but what fear, but what longing, but what zeal, but what vengeance! In everything you commended yourselves to be pure in the matter.

¹¹ And you will rejoice in all the good which Jehovah your God has given to you and to your house, you and the Levite and the traveler who is in the midst of you.
¹² When you have made an end of tithing all the tithe of your increase in the third year, which is the year of tithing, then you will give it to the Levite, to the traveler, to the fatherless and to the widow, that they may eat within your gates and be filled.
¹³ And you will say before Jehovah your God, I have put away the holy things out of my house and also have given them to the Levite and to the traveler, to the fatherless and to the widow, according to all your commandment which you have commanded me. I have not transgressed any of your commandments, neither have I forgotten them.

¹⁹ Therefore the Jews of the villages, who dwell in the un-walled towns, make the fourteenth day of the month Adar a day of gladness and feasting and a good day and of sending portions one to another.

²² as the days in which the Jews had rest from their enemies. And the month which was turned to them from sorrow to gladness and from mourning into a good day, that they should make them days of feasting and gladness and of sending portions one to another and gifts to the poor.

¹⁶ If I have withheld the poor from their desire, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail, ¹⁷ or have eaten my morsel alone and the fatherless has not eaten of it ¹⁸ (no, from my youth he grew up with me as with a father and her I have guided from my mother's womb);

⁷ Jehovah is my strength and my shield. My heart has trusted in him and I am helped. Therefore my heart greatly rejoices and with my song I will praise him.

⁷ Go your way, eat your bread with joy and drink your wine with a merry heart, because God has already accepted your works.

² Give a portion to seven, yes, even to eight, because you do not know what evil will be upon the earth.

¹ I have come into my garden, my sister, my bride. I have gathered my myrrh with my spice. I have eaten my honeycomb with my honey. I have drunk my wine with my milk. Eat, O friends. Drink, yes. Drink abundantly, O beloved.

⁷ And he touched my mouth with it and said, Behold, this has touched your lips and your iniquity is taken away and your sin forgiven.

¹ And you will say in that day, I will give thanks to you, O Jehovah, for though you were angry with me. Your anger is turned away and you comfort me. ² Behold, God is my salvation. I will trust and will not be afraid, for Jehovah, even Jehovah, is my strength and song and he has become my salvation. ³ Therefore with joy you* will draw water out of the wells of salvation.

¹ The wilderness and the dry land will be glad. And the desert will rejoice and blossom as the rose. ² It will blossom abundantly and rejoice even with joy and singing. The glory of Lebanon will be given to it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon. They will see the glory of Jehovah, the excellency of our God. ³ Strengthen you* the weak hands and confirm the feeble knees. ⁴ Say to those who are of a fearful heart, Be strong, do not fear. Behold, your* God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God. He will come and save you*.

¹⁰ I will greatly rejoice in Jehovah. My soul will be joyful in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation. He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with a garland and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

²³ Be glad then, you* sons of Zion and rejoice in Jehovah your* God, for he gives you* the former rain in just measure and he causes the rain to come down for you*, the former rain and the latter rain, in the first month.

⁴¹ However, the things which are within you, give those as charity, and behold, all things are clean to you.

² because the abundance of their joy in much trial of affliction and according to the depth of their poverty abounded to the riches of their liberality.

⁸ I pleaded with the Lord three-times in regard to this thing, in order that it might withdraw from me. ⁹ And he has said to me, My grace is enough for you; for my power is completed in weakness. ⁴ although I myself might have confidence in the flesh; if some other is thinking to have confidence in the flesh, I yet even more.

¹⁷ Command the rich in this current age, not to be cavalier, nor to have hope on the uncertainty of riches, but have hope in the living God, who is richly providing to us all things toward enjoyment; ¹⁸ also command them to work what is good, to be rich in good works, to be liberal in giving, generous,

¹⁰ And those who are dwelling upon the earth rejoice over them and will be joyous, and they will send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who dwell upon the earth.

³⁰ And Caleb stilled the people before Moses and said, Let us go up at once and possess it, for we are well able to overcome it.

¹² I have not gone back from the commandment of his lips, I have treasured up the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

⁸ The precepts of Jehovah are right, rejoicing the heart. The commandment of Jehovah is pure, enlightening the eyes. ⁹ The fear of Jehovah is clean, enduring forever. The ordinances of Jehovah are true and righteous altogether. ¹⁰ They are more to be desired than gold, yes, than much fine gold. Sweeter also than honey and the droppings of the honeycomb. ¹¹ Moreover by them your servant is warned. There is great reward in keeping them.

¹⁴ I have rejoiced in the way of your testimonies as much as in all riches.

¹⁶ I will delight myself in your statutes. I will not forget your word.

⁷² The law of your mouth is better to me than thousands of gold and silver.

⁹⁷ O how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day.

¹⁰³ How sweet are your words to my taste, than honey to my mouth! ¹⁰⁴ Through your precepts I get understanding. Therefore I hate every false way.

¹¹¹ I have taken your testimonies as a heritage everlasting, because they are the rejoicing of my heart.

¹²⁷ Therefore I love your commandments above gold, yes, above fine gold.

¹³⁰ The opening of your words gives light. It gives understanding to the simple.

¹⁷¹ Let my lips pour out praise, because you teach me your statutes.

¹⁷⁴ I have longed for your salvation, O Jehovah and your law is my delight.

¹ When Jehovah brought back those who returned to Zion, we were like those who dream.
² Then our mouth was filled with laughter and our tongue with singing. Then they said among the nations, Jehovah has done great things for them. ³ Jehovah has done great things for us. We are glad.

¹⁰ Because wisdom will enter into your heart and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul, ¹¹ discretion will watch over you, understanding will keep you,

¹³ My son, eat honey, because it is good and the droppings of the honeycomb, which are sweet to your taste, ¹⁴ so the knowledge of wisdom is to your soul. If you have found it, then there will be a reward and your hope will not be cut off.

¹⁶ Your words were found and I ate them. And your words were to me a joy and the rejoicing of my heart. For I am called by your name, O Jehovah, God of hosts.

¹⁸ For I know what is a good thing is not dwelling in me, (that is, in my flesh); for it is laying beside me to will it, but I am not finding what is a good thing to work it.

²³ And the whole assembly took counsel to keep another seven days. And they kept those seven days with gladness.

¹ My son, if you will receive my words and lay up my commandments with you, ² so as to incline your ear to wisdom and apply your heart to understanding, ³ because, if you cry after discernment and lift up your voice for understanding, ⁴ if you seek her as silver and search for her as for hidden treasures, ⁵ then you will understand the fear of Jehovah and find the knowledge of God.
⁶ Because Jehovah gives wisdom. Out of his mouth is knowledge and understanding.

³³ Hear instruction and be wise and do not refuse it.
³⁴ The man who hears me is fortunate, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.

¹ He who loves correction loves knowledge, but he who hates reproof is stupid.

³³ And the crowds saw them going and many recognized him and they ran together there on foot from all the cities and went before them, and came together to him. ³⁴ And Jesus came forth, and saw a large crowd and he had compassion upon them, because they were like sheep not having a shepherd and he began to teach them many things.

⁴⁷ Now he was teaching daily in the temple. But the high-priests and the scribes and the foremost ones of the people were seeking to destroy him. ⁴⁸ And they were not finding what they might do; for the people were all hanging on him, listening.

¹ Now while speaking to the people, the priests and the magistrate of the temple and the Sadducees stood by them,

⁴² But when the Jews went out of the synagogue, the Gentiles were pleading with him that the declarations might be spoken to them at the ensuing Sabbath.

²⁴ But it is essential for the Lord’s bondservant to not quarrel, but to be mild toward all, skilled in teaching, tolerating it when being mistreated, ²⁵ in meekness educating those who are placing themselves in opposition; if maybe God might give them repentance to come to the full knowledge of the truth,

¹⁷ And Jacob traveled to Succoth and built for him a house and made booths for his cattle. Therefore the name of the place is called Succoth.

³⁴ Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, On the fifteenth day of this seventh month is the feast of tabernacles for seven days to Jehovah.

⁴⁰ And you* will take to you* on the first day the fruit of majestic trees, branches of palm trees and boughs of thick trees and willows of the brook and you* will rejoice before Jehovah your* God seven days. ⁴¹ And you* will keep it a feast to Jehovah seven days in the year. It is an everlasting statute throughout your* genealogy. You* will keep it in the seventh month. ⁴² You* will dwell in booths seven days. All who are home-born in Israel will dwell in booths, ⁴³ that your* genealogy may know that I made the sons of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt. I am Jehovah your* God.

¹³ You will keep the feast of tabernacles seven days after you have gathered in from your threshing-floor and from your winepress.

¹⁶ And it will happen, that everyone who is left of all the nations that came against Jerusalem will go up from year to year to worship the King, Jehovah of hosts and to keep the feast of tabernacles. ¹⁷ And it will be, that of the families of the earth he who does not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, Jehovah of hosts, upon them there will be no rain.
¹⁸ And if the family of Egypt does not go up and does not come, that there will be the plague with which Jehovah will kill* the nations that do not go up to keep the feast of tabernacles. ¹⁹ This will be the punishment of Egypt and the punishment of all the nations that do not go up to keep the feast of tabernacles.

² Now the feast of the Jews, that is, the Feast of Tabernacles, was near.

¹¹ And the dove came in, in the evening to him. And behold, in her mouth an olive leaf plucked off, so Noah knew that the waters were abated from the earth.

⁴ These are the set feasts of Jehovah, even holy convocations, which you* will proclaim in their appointed season.

¹⁶ Three times in a year all your males will appear before Jehovah your God in the place which he will choose: in the feast of unleavened bread and in the feast of weeks and in the feast of tabernacles. And they will not appear before Jehovah empty.

⁴⁸ And Abimelech got up to Mount Zalmon, he and all the people who were with him. And Abimelech took an axe in his hand and cut down a bough from the trees and took it up and laid it on his shoulder. And he said to the people who were with him, What you* have seen me do, make haste and do as I have done.
⁴⁹ And all the people likewise cut down every man his bough and followed Abimelech and put them to the stronghold and set the stronghold on fire upon them, so that all the men of the tower of Shechem died also, about a thousand men and women.

¹ And when they drew near to Jerusalem and came to Bethphage, toward the Mountain of Olives, Jesus then sent two disciples,

¹³ and they took the limbs of the palm trees and went forth to a meeting with him and was crying out, Hosanna. He who is coming in the name of the Lord has been blessed, the King of Israel.

⁹ I saw and behold after these things, a large crowd, which no one was able to number, out of every nation and tribes and peoples and languages, standing in the sight of the throne and in the sight of the Lamb, having been dressed in white robes and palm trees in their hands;

⁸ When you build a new house, then you will make a guard rail for your roof, that you not bring blood upon your house, if any man falls from there.

² And it happened at evening, that David arose from his bed and walked upon the roof of the king's house. And from the roof he saw a woman bathing and the woman was very beautiful to look upon.

¹³ And Jehoash King of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh and came to Jerusalem and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate, four hundred cubits.

⁵ And Jehoshaphat stood in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem in the house of Jehovah before the new court.

⁵ And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of Jehovah.

¹ And all the people gathered themselves together as one man into the broad place that was before the water gate. And they spoke to Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which Jehovah had commanded to Israel.

³ And he read in it before the broad place that was before the water gate from early morning until midday, in the presence of the men and the women and of those who could understand. And the ears of all the people were attentive to the book of the law.

³⁹ and above the gate of Ephraim and by the old gate and by the fish gate and the tower of Hananel and the Tower of Hundred, even to the sheep gate. And they stood still in the gate of the guard.

¹³ And the houses of Jerusalem and the houses of the kings of Judah, which are defiled, will be as the place of Topheth, even all the houses upon whose roofs they have burned incense to all the host of heaven and have poured out drink offerings to other gods.

²⁹ And the Chaldeans, who fight against this city, will come and set this city on fire and burn it, with the houses upon whose roofs they have offered incense to Baal and poured out drink offerings to other gods, to provoke me to anger.

¹ Now it happened after the death of Moses the servant of Jehovah, that Jehovah spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' minister, saying,

²² and ate and drank before Jehovah on that day with great gladness. And they made Solomon the son of David king the second time and anointed him to Jehovah to be prince and Zadok to be priest.

⁸ So Solomon held the feast at that time seven days and all Israel with him, a very great assembly, from the entrance of Hamath to the brook of Egypt. ⁹ And on the eighth day they held a solemn assembly. For they kept the dedication of the altar seven days and the feast seven days. ¹⁰ And on the twenty-third day of the seventh month he sent the people away to their tents, joyful and glad of heart for the goodness that Jehovah had shown to David and to Solomon and to Israel his people.

¹³ even as the duty of every day required, offering according to the commandment of Moses, on the Sabbaths and on the new moons and on the set feasts, three times in the year, even in the feast of unleavened bread and in the feast of weeks and in the feast of tabernacles.

²¹ And the sons of Israel who were present at Jerusalem kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with great gladness. And the Levites and the priests praised Jehovah day by day, with loud instruments to Jehovah. ²² And Hezekiah spoke encouragingly to all the Levites who had good understanding in the service of Jehovah. So they ate throughout the feast for the seven days, offering sacrifices of peace offerings and making confession to Jehovah, the God of their fathers.
²³ And the whole assembly took counsel to keep another seven days. And they kept those seven days with gladness.

²⁶ So there was great joy in Jerusalem. For since the time of Solomon the son of David King of Israel there was not the like in Jerusalem.

¹⁸ And there was no Passover like to that kept in Israel from the days of Samuel the prophet. Neither did any of the kings of Israel keep such a Passover as Josiah kept and the priests and the Levites and all Judah and Israel that were present and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

⁴ And they kept the feast of tabernacles as it is written and offered the daily burnt offerings by number according to the ordinance, as the duty of every day required.

¹⁴ And the Word became flesh and resided among us (and we saw his glory, glory like that of the only begotten from the Father), full of favor and truth.

⁸ For if Joshua had given-rest to them, he would have not been speaking concerning another day after these things.

⁹ In faith, he sojourned in the land of promise, as an alien, having dwelt in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the joint heirs of the same promise.

¹³ These all died according to faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them and having greeted them from farther out and having confessed that they are strangers and travelers upon the earth.

³⁶ Seven days you* will offer an offering made by fire to Jehovah. On the eighth day will be a holy convocation to you* and you* will offer an offering made by fire to Jehovah. It is a solemn assembly; you* will do no job work.

³⁵ On the eighth day, you* will have a solemn assembly. You* will do no job work.

³⁷ Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and let him drink.
