⁸ And the sons of Israel gave these cities by lot to the Levites with their suburbs, as Jehovah commanded by Moses.

² the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben came and spoke to Moses and to Eleazar the priest and to the rulers of the congregation, saying,

⁵⁴ And you* will inherit the land by lot according to your* families. To the more you* will give more inheritance and to the few you will give less inheritance. Wherever the lot falls to any man, that will be his. You* will inherit according to the tribes of your* fathers.

³ And they will have the cities to dwell in and their suburbs will be for their cattle and for their substance and for all their beasts.

⁶ And you* will describe the land into seven portions and bring it here to me. And I will cast lots for you* here before Jehovah our God.

³ And the sons of Israel gave to the Levites out of their inheritance, according to the commandment of Jehovah, these cities with their suburbs:

³³ The lot is cast into the lap, but the whole disposing of it is of Jehovah.

¹⁸ The lot causes contentions to cease and decides between the mighty.
