³ And Judah spoke to him, saying, The man solemnly protested to us, saying, You* will not see my face unless your* brother be with you*.

¹⁵ By this you* will be proved; by the life of Pharaoh you* will not go forth from here unless your* youngest brother comes here. ¹⁶ Send one of you* and let him fetch your* brother. And you* will be bound, that your* words may be proved, whether there is truth in you*, or else by the life of Pharaoh surely you* are spies. ¹⁷ And he put them all together into confinement three days.
¹⁸ And Joseph said to them the third day, Do this and live, because I fear God. ¹⁹ If you* are true men, let one of your* brothers be bound in your* prison house, but go you*, carry grain for the famine of your* houses, ²⁰ and bring your* youngest brother to me. So will your* words be verified and you* will not die. And they did so.

³³ And the man, the lord of the land, said to us, By this I will know that you* are true men. Leave one of your* brothers with me and take grain for the famine of your* houses and go your* way, ³⁴ and bring your* youngest brother to me. Then I will know that you* are no spies, but that you* are true men. So I will deliver your* brother to you* and you* will trade in the land.

⁵ but if you will not send him, we will not go down. For the man said to us, You* will not see my face unless your* brother be with you*.

²³ And you said to your servants, Unless your* youngest brother come down with you*, you* will see my face no more.

¹³ And he said, Well! I will make a league with you, but one thing I require of you. That is, you will not see my face unless you first bring Michal, Saul's daughter, when you come to see my face.

²⁴ And the king said, Let him turn to his own house, but let him not see my face. So Absalom turned to his own house and did not see the king's face.

²⁸ And Absalom dwelt two full years in Jerusalem and he did not see the king's face.

³² And Absalom answered Joab, Behold, I sent to you, saying, Come here, that I may send you to the king to say, Why have I come from Geshur? It were better for me to still be there. Now therefore let me see the king's face and if there is iniquity in me, let him kill me.

³⁴ Having seen, I saw the mistreatment of my people who are in Egypt and have heard their groaning and I have come down to liberate them. And now come-here, I will be sending you into Egypt.

²⁵ And now, behold, I know that you all, among whom I went through preaching the kingdom of God, will be seeing my face no more,

³⁸ sorrowing especially upon the word which he had spoken, because they are about to view his face no more. Now they were sending him onward to the ship.
