⁹ And God said, Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together to one place and let the dry land appear. And it was so.

⁷ He stretches out the north over empty space and hangs the earth upon nothing.

¹⁰ He has described a boundary upon the face of the waters, to the confines of light and darkness.

⁸ Or who shut up the sea with doors when it broke forth, like it had gone forth out of the womb, ⁹ when I made clouds the garment of it and thick darkness a swaddling-band for it, ¹⁰ and marked out for it my bound and set bars and doors, ¹¹ and said, This far you will come, but no farther and here your proud waves will be stayed?

¹ The earth is Jehovah's and the fullness of it, the world and those who dwell in it. ² Because he has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the floods.

⁷ He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap. He lays up the depths in storehouses.

⁵ The sea is his and he made it. And his hands formed the dry land.

³ who lays the beams of his chambers in the waters, who makes the clouds his chariot, who walks upon the wings of the wind,

⁵ who laid the foundations of the earth that it should not be shaken everlasting and forever.
⁶ You covered it with the deep as with a raiment. The waters stood above the mountains. ⁷ At your rebuke they fled. At the voice of your thunder they hastened away.
⁸ The mountains rose, the valleys sank down to the place which you had founded for them. ⁹ You have set a bound that they may not pass over, that they do not turn again to cover the earth.

⁵ to him who by understanding made the heavens, because his loving kindness is everlasting,
⁶ to him who spread forth the earth above the waters, because his loving kindness is everlasting,

²⁸ when he made firm the skies above, when the fountains of the deep became strong, ²⁹ when he gave to the sea its boundary that the waters should not transgress his commandment, when he marked out the foundations of the earth,

⁷ All the rivers run into the sea, yet the sea is not full. To the place from where the rivers come, they go there again.

²² Do you* not fear me? says Jehovah. Will you* not tremble at my presence, who have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a everlasting decree, that it cannot pass it? And though the waves of it toss themselves, yet they cannot prevail, though they roar, yet they cannot pass over it.

⁹ And he said to them, I am a Hebrew and I fear Jehovah, the God of heaven, who has made the sea and the dry land.

⁵ For this is eluding them, (willing it to be so): that there were heavens from long-ago, and an earth established out of water and through water by the word of God;

⁶ and swore by the one who lives forevermore, who created the heaven and the things in it and the earth and the things in it and the sea and the things in it–that time will be no longer delay.
