¹¹ but the seventh year you will let it rest and lie tillable, that the poor of your people may eat and what they leave the beast of the field will eat. In like manner you will deal with your vineyard and with your olive-grove.

² Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, When you* come into the land which I give you*, then will the land keep a Sabbath to Jehovah. ³ Six years you will sow your field and six years you will prune your vineyard and gather in the fruits of it, ⁴ but in the seventh year will be a Sabbath of solemn rest for the land, a Sabbath to Jehovah. You will neither sow your field, nor prune your vineyard. ⁵ What grows of itself of your harvest you will not reap and the grapes of your undressed vine you will not gather. It will be a year of solemn rest for the land. ⁶ And the Sabbath of the land will be for food for you*: for you and for your servant and for your maid and for your hired servant and for your stranger, who travels with you. ⁷ And for your cattle and for the beasts that are in your land, all the increase of it will be for food.

¹¹ That fiftieth year will be a jubilee to you*. You* will not sow, neither reap what grows of itself in it, nor gather in it of the undressed vines.
¹² For it is a jubilee; it will be holy to you*. You* will eat the increase of it out of the field.

²⁰ And if you* will say, What will we eat the seventh year? Behold, we will not sow, nor gather in our increase,

²² And you* will sow the eighth year and eat of the fruits, the old storage, until the ninth year. Until its fruits come in, you* will eat the old storage.

³⁴ Then the land will enjoy its Sabbaths, as long as it lies desolate and you* are in your* enemies' land, even then will the land rest and enjoy its Sabbaths. ³⁵ As long as it lies desolate it will have rest, even the rest which it had not in your* Sabbaths, when you* dwelt upon it.
