¹³ And he declared to you* his covenant, which he commanded you* to perform, even the ten commandments. And he wrote them upon two tablets of stone.

⁵ Now therefore, if you* will obey my voice indeed and keep my covenant, then you* will be my own possession from among all peoples, for all the earth is mine,

¹² And Jehovah said to Moses, Come up to me onto the mountain and be there and I will give you the tablets of stone and the law and the commandment, which I have written, that you may teach them.

¹⁷ And the appearance of the glory of Jehovah was like devouring fire on the top of the mountain in the eyes of the sons of Israel. ¹⁸ And Moses entered into the midst of the cloud and went up onto the mountain. And Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights.

¹⁸ And he gave to Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon Mount Sinai, the two tablets of the testimony, tablets of stone, written with the finger of God.

²⁸ And he was there with Jehovah forty days and forty nights. He neither ate bread, nor drank water and he wrote upon the tablets the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.

¹ And Moses called to all Israel and said to them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and the ordinances which I speak in your* ears this day, that you* may learn them and observe to do them. ² Jehovah our God made a covenant with us in Horeb. ³ Jehovah did not make this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day.
⁴ Jehovah spoke with you* face to face in the mountain out of the midst of the fire ⁵ (I stood between Jehovah and you* at that time, to show you* the word of Jehovah, for you* were afraid because of the fire and did not go up onto the mountain), saying,
⁶ I am Jehovah your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. ⁷ You will have no other gods before me.
⁸ You will not make to you a graven image: any likeness that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. ⁹ You will not bow down yourself to them, nor serve them, for I, Jehovah your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons and upon the third and upon the fourth generation of those who hate me, ¹⁰ and showing loving kindness to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.
¹¹ You will not take the name of Jehovah your God in vain, for Jehovah will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.
¹² Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, as Jehovah your God commanded you. ¹³ Six days you will labor and do all your work, ¹⁴ but the seventh day is a Sabbath to Jehovah your God: you will not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your manservant, nor your maid-servant, nor your ox, nor your donkey, nor any of your cattle, nor your stranger that is within your gates, that your manservant and your maid-servant may rest as well as you. ¹⁵ And you will remember that you were a servant in the land of Egypt and Jehovah your God brought you out from there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm, therefore Jehovah your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.
¹⁶ Honor your father and your mother, as Jehovah your God commanded you, that your days may be long and that it may go well with you in the land which Jehovah your God gives you.
¹⁷ You will not murder.
¹⁸ Neither will you commit adultery.
¹⁹ Neither will you steal.
²⁰ Neither will you bear false witness against your neighbor.
²¹ Neither will you covet your neighbor's wife. Neither will you desire your neighbor's house, his field, or his man-servant, or his maid-servant, his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor's.

⁹ When I had gone up onto the mountain to receive the tablets of stone, even the tablets of the covenant which Jehovah made with you*, then I abode on the mountain forty days and forty nights. I neither ate bread nor drank water. ¹⁰ And Jehovah delivered to me the two tablets of stone written with the finger of God. And on them was according to all the words, which Jehovah spoke with you* in the mountain out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly.
¹¹ And it happened, at the end of forty days and forty nights, that Jehovah gave me the two tablets of stone, even the tablets of the covenant.

¹ At that time Jehovah said to me, Hew you two tablets of stone like the first and come up to me onto the mountain and make you an ark of wood. ² And I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets which you broke and you will put them in the ark. ³ So I made an ark of acacia wood and hewed two tablets of stone like the first and went up onto the mountain, having the two tablets in my hand. ⁴ And he wrote on the tablets according to the first writing, the ten commandments, which Jehovah spoke to you* in the mountain out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly and Jehovah gave them to me. ⁵ And I turned and came down from the mountain and put the tablets in the ark which I had made. And they are there as Jehovah commanded me.

⁷ But if the service of death, on scriptures having been engraved in stones, happened in glory, so-that the sons of Israel were not able to stare at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which was being done-away-with.

⁴ holding a golden altar of incense and the ark of the covenant, having been covered all around on every-side with gold, in which was the golden jar holding the manna and Aaron’s scepter which had sprouted and the tablets of the covenant;

¹⁹ For when every commandment had been spoken by Moses to all the people according to the law, and when he took the blood of the calves and the male-goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, he sprinkled both the book itself and all the people, ²⁰ saying, ‘This is the blood of the covenant which God commanded toward you.’
