³⁸ This is he who came to be in the congregation in the wilderness with the messenger who spoke to him on Mount Sinai and from our fathers. This is he who accepted the living word to give to us;

³ And Moses went up to God. And Jehovah called to him out of the mountain, saying, Thus you will say to the house of Jacob and tell the sons of Israel: ⁴ You* have seen what I did to the Egyptians and how I bore you* on eagles' wings and brought you* to myself.
⁵ Now therefore, if you* will obey my voice indeed and keep my covenant, then you* will be my own possession from among all peoples, for all the earth is mine, ⁶ and you* will be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words which you will speak to the sons of Israel.
⁷ And Moses came and called for the elders of the people and set before them all these words which Jehovah commanded him. ⁸ And all the people answered together and said, All that Jehovah has spoken we will do. And Moses reported the words of the people to Jehovah.
⁹ And Jehovah said to Moses, Behold, I come to you in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with you and may also believe you everlasting. And Moses told the words of the people to Jehovah.
¹⁰ And Jehovah said to Moses, Go to the people and sanctify them today and tomorrow and let them wash their garments, ¹¹ and be ready for the third day, because the third day Jehovah will come down in the sight of all the people upon Mount Sinai.
¹² And you will set bounds to the people all around, saying, Take heed to yourselves, that you* not go up onto the mountain, or touch the border of it. Whoever touches the mountain will be surely put to death; ¹³ no hand will touch him, but he will surely be stoned, or shot through, whether it is beast or man, he will not live. When the ram’s horn is prolonged, they will come up to the mountain.
¹⁴ And Moses went down from the mountain to the people and made the people holy and they washed their garments. ¹⁵ And he said to the people, Be ready for the third day. Do not come near a woman. ¹⁶ And it happened on the third day, when it was morning, that there were thunders and lightnings and a thick cloud upon the mountain and the voice of an exceedingly loud trumpet. And all the people who were in the camp trembled.
¹⁷ And Moses brought out the people out of the camp to meet God and they stood at the lower part of the mountain.

¹⁹ And they said to Moses, Speak with us and we will hear, but do not let God speak with us, lest we die. ²⁰ And Moses said to the people, Do not fear, because God has come to prove you* and that his fear may be before you*, that you* not sin.

¹ Now these are the ordinances which you will set before them.
² If you buy a Hebrew servant, six years he will serve and in the seventh he will go out free for nothing. ³ If he comes in by himself, he will go out by himself. If he is married, then his wife will go out with him. ⁴ If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the wife and her sons will be her master's and he will go out by himself. ⁵ But if the servant will plainly say, I love my master, my wife and my sons, I will not go out free, ⁶ then his master will bring him to God and will bring him to the door, or to the door-post and his master will bore his ear through with an awl and he will serve him everlasting.
⁷ And if a man sells his daughter to be a maid-servant, she will not go out as the men-servants do. ⁸ If she does not please her master, who has espoused her to himself, then he will let her be redeemed. He will have no power to sell her to a foreign people, since he has dealt deceitfully with her. ⁹ And if he espouses her to his son, he will deal with her according to the manner of daughters. ¹⁰ If he takes him another wife, her food, her garments and her duty of marriage, he will not diminish. ¹¹ And if he does not do these three things to her, then she will go out for nothing, without money.

³ and they assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron and said to them, You* take too much upon you*, since all the congregation are holy, every one of them and Jehovah is among them. Why then do you* lift up yourselves above the assembly of Jehovah?
⁴ And when Moses heard it, he fell upon his face. ⁵ And he spoke to Korah and to all his company, saying, In the morning Jehovah will show who are his and who is holy and will cause him to come near to him, even him whom he will choose will he cause to come near to him.
⁶ This do: You* take censers, Korah and all his company, ⁷ and put fire in them and put incense upon them before Jehovah tomorrow. And it will be that the man whom Jehovah chooses, he is holy. You* take too much upon you*, you* sons of Levi.
⁸ And Moses said to Korah, Hear now, you* sons of Levi. ⁹ Is it a small thing to you*, that the God of Israel has separated you* from the congregation of Israel, to bring you* near to himself, to do the service of the tabernacle of Jehovah and to stand before the congregation to minister to them, ¹⁰ and that he has brought you near and all your brothers the sons of Levi with you? And you* seek the priesthood also? ¹¹ Therefore you and all your company are gathered together against Jehovah. And Aaron, what is he that you* murmur against him?
¹² And Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab. And they said, We will not come up. ¹³ Is it a small thing that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, but you must make yourself also a ruler over us? ¹⁴ Moreover you have not brought us into a land flowing with milk and honey, nor given us inheritance of fields and vineyards. Will you put out the eyes of these men? We will not come up.
¹⁵ And Moses was very angry and said to Jehovah, Do not respect you their offering. I have not taken one donkey from them, neither have I hurt one of them.
¹⁶ And Moses said to Korah, You and all your company be before Jehovah, you and they and Aaron, tomorrow. ¹⁷ And take you* every man his censer and put incense upon them and bring you* before Jehovah every man his censer, two hundred and fifty censers, you also and Aaron, each his censer. ¹⁸ And they took every man his censer and put fire in them and laid incense on it and stood at the door of the tent of meeting with Moses and Aaron. ¹⁹ And Korah assembled all the congregation against them to the door of the tent of meeting. And the glory of Jehovah appeared to all the congregation.
²⁰ And Jehovah spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying, ²¹ Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment. ²² And they fell upon their faces and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, will one man sin and will you be angry with all the congregation?
²³ And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying, ²⁴ Speak to the congregation, saying, You* get up from about the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan and Abiram.
²⁵ And Moses rose up and went to Dathan and Abiram and the elders of Israel followed him. ²⁶ And he spoke to the congregation, saying, Depart, I beseech you*, from the tents of these wicked men and touch nothing of theirs, lest you* are consumed in all their sins. ²⁷ So they got up from the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan and Abiram, on every side. And Dathan and Abiram came out and stood at the door of their tents and their wives and their sons and their little ones.
²⁸ And Moses said, Hereby you* will know that Jehovah has sent me to do all these works, for it is not of my own mind. ²⁹ If these men die the common death of all men, or if they are visited after the visitation of all men, then Jehovah has not sent me. ³⁰ But if Jehovah makes a new thing and the ground opens its mouth and swallows them up, with all that pertains to them and they go down alive into Sheol, then you* will understand that these men have despised Jehovah.
³¹ And it happened, as he made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground split asunder that was under them, ³² and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up and their households and all the men that pertained to Korah and all their goods. ³³ So they and all that pertained to them, went down alive into Sheol. And the earth closed upon them and they perished from among the assembly.
³⁴ And all Israel that were all around them fled at the cry of them, for they said, Lest the earth swallow us up. ³⁵ And fire came out from Jehovah and devoured the two hundred and fifty men who offered the incense.

⁴¹ But on the morrow all the congregation of the sons of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron, saying, You* have killed the people of Jehovah.
⁴² And it happened, when the congregation was assembled against Moses and against Aaron, that they looked toward the tent of meeting, and behold, the cloud covered it and the glory of Jehovah appeared.

²⁷ Go near and hear all that Jehovah our God will say. And speak to us all that Jehovah our God will speak to you and we will hear it and do it.
²⁸ And Jehovah heard the voice of your* words, when you* spoke to me. And Jehovah said to me, I have heard the voice of the words of this people, which they have spoken to you. They have well said all that they have spoken. ²⁹ Oh that there were such a heart in them that they would fear me and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them and with their sons everlasting!
³⁰ Go say to them, Return to your* tents. ³¹ But as for you, stand here by me and I will speak to you all the commandment and the statutes and the ordinances, which you will teach them, that they may do them in the land which I give them to possess it.

¹ Now this is the commandment, the statutes and the ordinances, which Jehovah your* God commanded to teach you*, that you* might do them in the land where you* go over to possess it, ² that you might fear Jehovah your God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command you, you and your son and your son's son, all the days of your life and that your days may be prolonged.
³ Hear therefore, O Israel and observe to do it, that it may be well with you and that you* may increase mightily, as Jehovah, the God of your fathers, has promised to you, in a land flowing with milk and honey.

¹⁹ I call heaven and earth to witness against you* this day, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Therefore choose life, that you may live, you and your seed, ²⁰ to love Jehovah your God, to obey his voice and to cling to him, for he is your life and the length of your days, that you may dwell in the land which Jehovah swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob, to give them.

⁴⁶ And he said to them, Set your* heart to all the words which I testify to you* this day, which you* will command your* sons to observe to do, even all the words of this law. ⁴⁷ For it is no vain thing for you*, because it is your* life and through this thing you* will prolong your* days in the land where you* go over the Jordan to possess it.

⁴ Moses commanded for us a law, an inheritance for the assembly of Jacob.

¹³ You also came down upon Mount Sinai and spoke with them from heaven and gave them right ordinances and true laws, good statutes and commandments, ¹⁴ and made known to them your holy Sabbath and commanded them commandments and statutes and a law, by Moses your servant.

⁵ For he established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their sons, ⁶ that the generation to come might know, even the sons who should be born, who should arise and tell to their sons, ⁷ that they might set their hope in God and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments, ⁸ and might not be as their fathers: a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation that did not set their heart aright and whose spirit was not steadfast with God.
⁹ The sons of Ephraim, being armed and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.

⁹ In all their affliction he was afflicted and the messenger of his presence saved them. In his love and in his pity he redeemed them. And he bore them and carried them all the days of old.

¹⁷ Because the law was given through Moses; the favor and the truth became through Jesus Christ.

⁶³ It is the spirit who is giving-life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit and are life.

³⁰ Now when forty years were fulfilled, a messenger of the Lord appeared to him in the wilderness of Mount Sinai, in a flame of fire from a bush.

³⁵ This Moses whom they deny, having said, Who designated you a ruler and a justice? God sent this one as a ruler and a redeemer by the hand of the messenger who was seen by him in the bush.

⁵³ You who received the law at the commandment from God’s messengers and did not observe it.

² Much, according to every manner! For indeed, first, that they were entrusted with the oracles of God.

⁴ who are Israelites, whose is the sonship and the glory and the covenants and the institution of the law and the divine service and the promises;

⁶ But the righteousness from faith says thus, ‘You should not say in your heart, Who will be ascending into heaven?’(This is: to lead Christ down.) ⁷ Or, ‘Who will be going down into the abyss?’(This is: to lead Christ up from among the dead.) ⁸ But what does it say? ‘The declaration is near you, in your mouth and in your heart.’This is the declaration of the faith which we are preaching: ⁹ that if you confessed the Lord Jesus in your mouth and if you have believed in your heart that God raised him up from the dead, you will be saved; ¹⁰ for it is believed in the heart toward righteousness and it is confessed with the mouth toward salvation.

¹⁹ Therefore why was the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed would come to whom it has been promised; having been appointed through messengers by the hand of an intermediary.

² For if the word spoken through the messengers became steadfast and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward;

¹² For the word of God is living and effective and sharper beyond that of any two edged sword and is penetrating till the division of both soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow and is a judge of the contemplations and deliberations of the heart.

¹² For you also ought to be teachers by now because of the time, but you again have need of one to teach you what are the fundamental principles of the beginning oracles of God, and have become ones having need of milk and not of solid nourishment.

¹¹ If anyone is speaking, speak as the oracles of God; if anyone is serving, serve as from the strength which God is supplying; in order that God may be glorified in all things through Jesus Christ to whom is the glory and the dominion forevermore. Amen.
