²¹ For you were called into this, because Christ also suffered on our behalf, leaving a model for you, in order that you should follow after his footprints.

¹³ Righteousness will go before him and will make his footsteps a path.

³⁸ Now he who is not taking up his cross and following after me, is not worthy of me.

²⁹ Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, because I am meek and humble in heart and you will be finding rest for your souls.

²⁴ Then Jesus said to his disciples, If anyone is willing to come after me, let him deny himself and lift up his cross and follow me.

³⁴ And having called the crowd together with his disciples to him, he said to them, Whoever wishes to follow after me, let him deny himself, and lift up his cross and follow me. ³⁵ For whoever wishes to save his life will be losing it, and whoever loses his life because of me and because of the good-news, this one will be saving it.

²³ Now he said to all, If anyone wishes to come after me, let him deny himself, and lift up his cross and follow me. ²⁴ For whoever wishes to save his life will be losing it, but whoever loses his life because of me, this one will be saving it. ²⁵ For what is a man profited, having gained the whole world, but has lost or forfeited himself?

²⁶ If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brethren and sisters, and also, still his own life, he is not able to be my disciple. ²⁷ And whoever does not bear his own cross, and comes after me, is not able to be my disciple.

²⁶ Was it not essential for the Christ to suffer these things and to enter into his glory?

¹⁵ For I gave you an example, in order that you should also do like I have done for you.

³³ I have spoken to you these things, in order that you may have peace in me. You have affliction in the world, but have courage; I have overcome the world.

¹⁶ for I will be showing him how-much it is essential for him to suffer on behalf of my name.

²² further strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to remain in the faith, and that it is essential for us through many afflictions to enter into the kingdom of God.

³ opening and placing before them that it was essential for the Christ to have suffered and to have risen up from the dead, and that this Jesus, whom I am proclaiming to you, is the Christ.

²⁹ Because, whom he knew beforehand, he also predetermined, one transformed to the image of his Son, that he himself might be the firstborn among many brethren;

¹ Become imitators of me, just-as I also am of Christ.

² and walk in love, just-as the Christ also loved us and gave himself up on our behalf as an offering and a sacrifice to God for an aroma of a sweet-fragrance.

⁵ For let this mindset be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

³ that no one be shook up in these afflictions; for you yourselves know that we are destined for this thing.

² For you know what commands we gave you through the Lord Jesus.

¹² But even all who wish to live devoutly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.

¹⁰ For it was suitable for him, because of whom are all things and through whom are all things, having led many sons to glory, to complete the author of their salvation through sufferings.

²⁰ who indeed, having been known beforehand, before the conception of the world, but was manifested in the last times because of you,

²⁴ who, himself, carried our sins in his body upon the tree, in order that we might live to righteousness, having died to our sins; by whose wound s you were healed.

⁹ not repaying evil in exchange-for evil or reviling in exchange-for reviling, but instead, speaking well of others; knowing that you were called for this, in order that you should inherit a blessing.

¹⁸ Because Christ also suffered once for all on behalf of our sins, the righteous on behalf of the unrighteous, in order that he might lead you to God; having indeed been slain in the flesh, but was given-life in the Spirit;

¹ Therefore, Christ having suffered on our behalf who are in the flesh, (you also weaponize yourselves with the same mind), because he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin;

⁶ He who says he abides in him, he also ought to walk so; just-as that man walked.

¹⁶ We have known love in this, because that man laid down his life on our behalf and we ought to lay down our lives on behalf of the brethren.

¹¹ And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even to death.
