⁵ For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.

²¹ And you will not give any of your seed to make them pass through the fire to Molech, neither will you profane the name of your God. I am Jehovah.

² Moreover, you will say to the sons of Israel, Whoever he is of the sons of Israel, or of the strangers that journey in Israel, who gives of his seed to Molech, he will surely be put to death. The people of the land will stone him with stones. ³ I also will set my face against that man and will cut him off from among his people, because he has given of his seed to Molech, to defile my sanctuary and to profane my holy name. ⁴ And if the people at the land do at all hide their eyes from that man, when he gives of his seed to Molech and do not put him to death, ⁵ then I will set my face against that man and against his family and will cut him off and all who play the prostitute after him, to play the prostitute with Molech, from among their people.

¹³ And they forsook Jehovah and served Baal and the Ashtaroth.

⁶ And the sons of Israel again did what was evil in the sight of Jehovah and served the Baals and the Ashtaroth and the gods of Syria and the gods of Sidon and the gods of Moab and the gods of the sons of Ammon and the gods of the Philistines. And they forsook Jehovah and did not serve him.

³ And Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, If you* do return to Jehovah with all your* heart, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtaroth from among you* and direct your* hearts to Jehovah and serve him only. And he will deliver you* out of the hand of the Philistines. ⁴ Then the sons of Israel did put away the Baals and the Ashtaroth and served Jehovah only.

¹⁰ And they cried to Jehovah and said, We have sinned because we have forsaken Jehovah and have served the Baals and the Ashtaroth, but now deliver us out of the hand of our enemies and we will serve you.

⁷ Then Solomon built a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab on the mountain that is before Jerusalem and for Molech the abomination of the sons of Ammon.

³³ because that they have forsaken me and have worshiped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, Chemosh the god of Moab and Milcom the god of the sons of Ammon. And they have not walked in my ways, to do what is right in my eyes and to keep my statutes and my ordinances as David his father did.

¹³ And the king defiled the high places that were before Jerusalem, which were on the right hand of the mountain of corruption, which Solomon the King of Israel had built for Ashtoreth the abomination of the Sidonians and for Chemosh the abomination of Moab and for Milcom the abomination of the sons of Ammon.
